At what age did you learn about guns?

I kind of agree. But kids touch shit. And do crazy shit. It only takes a second for the worst to happen.

100%. I was taught very early and had my first gun young. I was taught gun safety so well it made it hard to play Nerf sometimes. Loaded guns at the ready in the house are only a problem for parents who haven't taught their kids the way I was raised.

Absolute hog shit cause kids don’t always listen. They break rules all the time. Just because they know better doesn’t mean they always do better

I agree 100% it’s only when kids aren’t taught properly are used to seeing them is when they’re curious.

Started teaching them at 8yrs old with @DaisyRifles By the time they were 10, I could have left a loaded, cocked and off safety anything laying on the floor in front of the TV and they wouldn't touch it (I didn't, but I could have).

Another key point is to remove the mystery. My kids know if they ever want to see/hold any of my firearms all they have to do is ask. I will get them out and sit with them while we talk about them. When you remove the mystery and teach good safety principles you drastically reduce the risk of accidents. That being said, you also have to keep firearms out of the reach of toddlers and kids too young to understand the importance of them.

kids won’t touch a wall socket/hot stove because it’s painful. They will however play with fire (or a gun) because they don’t anticipate hurting themselves. They are kids at the end of the day. You can teach kids firearm safety, but every kid is different.

I got an autistic kid that cannot learn firearm safety right now. He doesn’t understand it. What’s your suggestion then? Really curious cause this is kinda what’s stopped me from getting one. He doesn’t get into stuff tho.
