Fantasies come true in Las Vegas. Had to get the flap underneath my Tesla Model 3 fixed. It finally failed on the drive to Vegas yesterday (my car is lowered so give that more abuse than usual). Service made me a deal. They would give me a Cybertruck while they fixed it. So we took it on a pretty road in Nevada. After a long drive to get to Valley of Fire State Park where I drove manually up. FSD down. Pretended we were on Mars in a robot. I have been interviewing Cybertruck owners and they all love theirs. I see why now. Smooths out all of life’s difficulties. It is the first all software driven vehicle. In it human is not linked to the wheels. This makes a long road trip or a U-turn way easier. And nicer. Thank you Tesla for making my fantasies come true. SCOTTeVEST Scott Jordan took me in his Ferrari on this road. The Ferrari is more fun to drive. But harder. And it can’t drive you so you can enjoy the very wild scenery. And on the ride up the Cybertruck is superior. What a fun day! Tomorrow going to hang out with healthcare/medical nerds.

They were incredible German magicians with a long-running Las Vegas residency, and they had these amazing manes. Later on, they wore wigs that looked exactly like my hair now. I gave my daughter 15yrs of age 50 dollars to buy herself something, she looked so shocked and happy. She said why ma? What did I do to get it? I said nothing dear.... She has a mentality that you cant just give her money or anything, she must earn it. This is a sweetheart that makes the best palmoil rice and pita bread from scratch in the house, even better than mama, she cooks for her siblings without being told, selflessly serve the people in the house, she makes her own hair, she makes adults hair too joyfully, highly domesticated, she massages my legs and back every night, wake her up 2am or anytime to help you with any house chores, she's up and going, my own child, the daughter of my womb, SHE DOESN'T FEEL ENTITLED TO ME, THEN SOMEONE SOMEWHERE WHO'S DONE NOTHING WILL FROWN FACE AT A GIFT OR SAY, I'LL PREFER SAMSUNG S SERIES OVER A. YOU'RE NOT OKAY. The video was last year, she will be 16 this year. ❤️ 😍

Exhibit A in “How to ruin your own life before 25”: Almost-25-year-old rolls into a tattoo shop to cover up her latest regrettable elbow decision… and the artist simply notices reality: rainbow hair, face tattoos that look like they lost a bet with a Sharpie, lip piercings straight out of a “hire me never” starter pack, neck barbed wire (peak approachable energy), spiderweb for extra edge, and hands covered in enough random symbols to qualify as a walking “do not hire” sign. Artist: “How old are you?” “Almost 25.” Artist: “That’s a lot going on with your face for somebody who’s not even 25 yet.” Our protagonist’s brilliant defense? “I only have two face tattoos” while frantically pointing at their forehead, eye drips, neck, and hands like they’re counting participation trophies. Then they hit 13. Because apparently everything from the neck up (and the hands) doesn’t count if you squint hard enough and lie to yourself. Nothing says “I make excellent long-term decisions” like turning your face and hands into a permanent billboard for “I peaked during my edgy phase and now I’m surprised the world treats me accordingly.” The artist didn’t “judge.” They observed the obvious consequences of a string of poor choices and had the audacity to say it out loud. This is NOT peak self-expression and empowerment. It’s a masterclass in making every future job interview, relationship, and opportunity harder than it needed to be.

Parents often ask me about the best way to engage infants in lap reading - noting, at the very earliest stages, that their babies aren’t always real attentive to books. It’s important, first and foremost, to note that infant attention spans are very short. So know that it’s okay to start small… reading for just a minute or two at a time. But there are also ways you can optimize your chances of a successful experience. One trick is to literally turn things around, as illustrated by this great video from justjessfood on IG, who (with the assistance of a supportive pillow) has turned lap reading into a face-to-face social experience. There’s nothing your baby loves more than your face… as evidenced by this sweet little guy who arguably takes more delight in mom’s expressive reading than in a view of the book itself. And that’s just fine! He’s still accruing all the language benefits as they bond. And talk about an appreciative audience! Next time you read with your baby try configuring the situation so that they can see both you and the book. You may find it makes a big difference.
