23 year old David Puig is having another great season, finishing inside the points in every event on the LIV Golf League to be 10th on the Standings and finishing T11 or better in all 3 DP World Tour starts. He’s been a model of consistency but is without a win and he says it’s something he’s looking forward to the challenge of trying to overcome: “I’ve been having a really good season and playing very consistent. I think I’ve been doing well in every part of the game if you look at my strokes gained. Lots of birdies, some eagles, but too many mistakes to be winning events and it’s something I’m really looking forward to, the challenge of minimising the mistakes and trying to get it done this year. “There’s times where I’ve made the right decision, it was just poorly executed and a few unlucky breaks here and there that stopped me from winning. But I’m looking forward to the challenge and really happy with how I’ve been playing.” David is an electric player to watch who is not scared to take on tough shots and can get hot at any time running off strings of birdies. His speed is his biggest asset but it’s something he says he needs to learn how to utilise: “I might be a little different than the average player. I hit the ball pretty far and that makes it a bit more challenging when I’m out of position in the rough. We’ve caught a couple of fliers where the ball reacts different than expected out of the different lies and that makes it more challenging. But I’ve just got to learn from those mistakes and keep getting better. “My game is getting into good shape. I’m positive with the way I’ve been working on and off the course to get to that point that I can get the win. I’m excited for it and I’m learning. I just need to keep the mistakes off the card.” David is playing this week at LIV Golf UK by JCB and it’s a course which he says he enjoys. He also played well here last season coming T11. Hopefully he can continue his great form this season and contend again this weekend at the JCB Golf and Country Club.

There’s been some confusion/comments about my use of the phrase “pull the goalie” … so I’ll explain what it means, why I use it and why I think it’s the right starting point to use for defining urban Family Friendly housing Like from this clip from Marley and Me, it has simply meant a couple having sex, while being open to having kids. The word " trying" can feel really strange at first ... so it's just the shift from preventing a pregnancy to being willing for one to happen. And there’s a very big difference between getting pregnant and deciding to be willing to get pregnant. That difference is *key* when it comes both to designing housing and to making a City more family friendly. I know plenty of couples who have gotten pregnant immediately, like on the honeymoon. And for others it has taken years of ACTUAL trying (tracking cycles, having sex at specific times of day, hormones, IVF) ... and for some of our friends despite all efforts it just has not happened. Only God knows when or if a couple will have a baby. Babies truly are a miracle. (On a related note, Marley and Me is a beautiful movie in telling the story of wanting a family and losing a baby. My wife and I have lost children, so we know a *bit* of what the heartbreak of miscarriage is like) But the shift for a couple to become WILLING to have a baby is one of the core reasons people struggle to have kids in cities. If someone looks around their apartment and thinks, “There is no way we could raise a baby here,” then they’re less likely to stop using birth control. Your home has to feel like it could accommodate a baby. A "Baby Maybe" home: a second small bedroom or a tiny home office, that could have be a nursery in a pinch. It enables the small, almost subconscious, mental threshold where you say, “You know what … we’d be fine if this happened.” That’s the moment. And for each couple, there will be 1000 other things that go into the equation: Can we afford for 1 of us to stay home, or full-time childcare? Do we see other kids around us? Is it safe enough for kids? Are there parks nearby? Do we need to be closer to family and cousins? All will be different for each family, but they ALL require that their current home is sufficient to be able to have a kid Otherwise, as soon as a couple finds out they are pregnant ... they call their parents, friends and family and tell them the good news ... and then immediately look on Zillow to move right away so they aren't giving birth AND moving the same time. It's kind of a bummer in an otherwise wonderful magical moment. We've seen many many couples move out of the City at that exact period. "Well, since we are moving anyway, we might as well go to where we think we will live long term." But it doesn't need to be that. Babies are small. At least for the first year, if you have a place to put them you're probably better off just staying in your current place and then figuring things out later. Maybe you DO need to move to the suburbs or be closer to family or you want a house with a yard. But that decision doesn't need to be right away. TLDR: Family Friendly housing doesn’t begin at birth. It begins when a couple can imagine a child fitting into their current home ... whether that's a rowhome with tiny bedrooms or a 1BR+Den apartment.

Reading with your baby isn’t always as simple as it might seem. Earlier this week, a parent asked how I’d advise reading to a toddler who may not have the attention span for a full book and who, when handling them, often tears the pages. I’m so glad you asked! This fantastic video, shared to TT a couple years back by hanzcakess, illustrates both the realities of - and several important lessons for - parents and caregivers when it comes to reading with infants and toddlers. First, when reading with very young children it’s important to begin with realistic expectations. At this little guy’s age (which I’m going to guess is around a year, give or take 2 months) babies‘ attention spans are VERY limited. Think 1-2 minutes tops. What does that mean for you? First it means that you’re unlikely to make it through an entire book. And that’s just fine. Rest assured that there’s still great value in the activity. Further, don’t be surprised if your child is more interested in interacting with (or at the earliest stages, even chewing on) the book itself rather than attending to the story it contains. That’s ok too. For both reasons, beginning with sturdy, laminated board books is well advised. Not only do these tend to be super short (with most intended to accommodate for babies’ brief attention spans), but they’re made to withstand the rigors of handling by infants and toddlers. Now, some might look at this video and (on first glance, at least) see primarily inattention. But not me! Here’s what I see: First, I see a completely normal toddler who’s already putting some really impressive book knowledge on display. Notice he’s advancing front to back and left to right as he turns pages sequentially. They’ve done this often. Also want to shout out what a truly fantastic job Dad is doing here. Notice that he’s totally letting his son dictate the terms the activity. He’s not insistent on completing the text, but goes with the flow as his son turns the pages. As the pages turn he’s helping to illustrate that the print on each one contains a unique message. And he’s singing the text! Brown Bear is a great book for this and many board books lend themselves particularly well here. Your baby isn’t judging your singing voice. Kudos on making the experience engaging. In light of all the above, don’t be afraid to stray from the text altogether as needed and use this time to simply engage in conversation about the pictures and introduce some new vocabulary. Finally, while lap reading is fantastic, at this age you may also find benefit in reading face to face, allowing your child to tune into your expressions alongside the book. Remember, there’s nothing your baby loves seeing more than you. Rest assured this stage doesn’t last forever. You’ll be snuggling up for longer sessions in no time. I watched so you did not have to and here is the breakdown!!!! Nearly 2 hours. Plenty of nostalgia. Plenty of vibes. Lots of feelings. But when the net was wide open for actual clarification? Dead air. Total time Chris Albert spoke 1,501 seconds Which is 25 min and 1 sec. So on an almost 2 hour show, he spoke for about 25 minutes total. Roughly 21% of the entire show The remaining time was largely filled by the hosts themselves frequently cutting him off, reframing questions, finishing answers for him, or moving the conversation along before he ever had to sit in discomfort or explain anything fully. 0 minutes of that time addressed the major unresolved timeline and movement issues Oddly missing from this fact-based discussion No explanation for how Colin got home 20 min AFTER Chris that night, despite a four-minute head start No explanation for why Chris’s wife that went to 34 Fairview with donuts for brian Jr. pulled behind a car that was not there only an hour earlier with no explanation then, turned around, came back to get him, returned again, stayed 30 min, then left, all on the morning John was found. No mention of parents allegedly coordinating to quietly clean up a house-destroying party involving minors in which his son was one No discussion of repeated allegations of Colin being removed from bars for underage drinking. We were told this channel is about facts, not opinion. So we treated it like a data exercise. We timed everything Chris talked about, so you didn’t have to. Lucky for me all the files from the children's home of the groomers turning up, ringing the unit phones was very well documented in my daily staff logs which are in archive in Coventry city Council buildings for 70 years. Also Coventry Evening Telegraph did a piece on me in 1999. They sent an undercover journalist into my children's home who then reported about the groomers calling us on the units phone and collecting us. The men also made telephone cards with thier numbers on advertising me which were found by the staff. Despite all this this, and hospital reports of some of my attacks 3 or 4 months into the investigation, my case was closed down. I gave up. Now I have hope. All the proof is there. For the first time in 30 years I feel like im going to be heard, and those responsible will face justice. The life long damage this has done to me has been difficult to live with, as ive also lost a baby girl who was forced adopted because the UK social services believed I would never be able to parent because of the damage caused. Imagine, I gave birth and they walked into the delivery room and took her even before the placenta was delivered. UK social services have alot to answer to. Locking us victims up for months at a time to keep us safe....but groomers allowed to roam free. Today my journey for justice really begins. I lost some of my faith in people yesterday. Do you all remember this story of the woman we found on the road carrying a dead child? Around 3pm yesterday while I was at the hospital, I got a call from Ope Ola Grace. She sounded really confused. I asked what’s wrong then she said she saw this woman at Lafenwa begging for alms among the beggars. I told her to wait there and make sure she doesn’t leave, that I am on my way to confirm with my eyes because it can’t be possible. I got there with Seeker of Truth and it was indeed true. I couldn’t believe what I saw. How’s this possible?? We set up a business worth around N300k for her last December, gave her money, gave her husband extra money to keep. Enrolled her kids (all 3 of them) in school, supplied all needed school materials for one year. Bought at least 3 months worth of food supply for them as well. The Hon Commissioner for women affairs Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye also sent delegates to her with lots of needed items; 25kg bags of rice twice in the last 5 months, 10 crates of soft drink for the wife in January. The commissioner also made sure that her husband was among the 100 beneficiaries of the N100,000 disability grant of the RHI shared on the 17th of April by First Lady Remi Tinubu in Abeokuta. He confirmed that he received the N100k the same day. I called her at the spot to show her the woman and she was confused too. Like, “Jack, what else could we have done?” I asked people there, they said she’s been begging with them for more than a month. When I explained in details all the help we have provided for her in the last 5 months, they got angry, saying she should leave. That’s not even the worst part of this story. The worst, I fear, is she appears pregnant again. However she insisted she’s not, that she just ate eba, that’s why her stomach is big. We took her back home, the husband (visually impaired as I stated then) said he was not aware that she has been begging, and he can’t see, so no way to confirm if she’s pregnant. Everyone in her community said she goes out for 3-4hours everyday when the kids have gone to school to get ‘supplies’ for their mini-stall. They said some other troubling things about her that I won’t want to share here. I am confused on what to do next.

Played Kingdoms of the Dump for 30 hours, here is my review: -The game is a loving homage to classic SNES RPGs like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy, perfectly capturing their atmosphere -A tactical turn-based combat system with active elements, reminiscent of Super Mario RPG or more recently Expedition 33 -One of the most unique settings ever in an RPG -Incredible variety of enemies, all beautifully rendered in pixel art (boss design by Look Outside pixel artist) -The game is divided into multiple acts, taking you through a wide variety of regions and kingdoms -It’s full of charm and incredible attention to detail. Heal with rotting items, fight flying jellyshorts, and save using toilet paper rolls on toilets. Just lovely. -Fun fact: Game is made by 2 real janitors -The original soundtrack is an absolute banger, instantly transporting you back to the SNES era -There’s a Mode 7-style overworld that you can explore on foot, on a mount, or by airship -The overworld invites exploration and is packed with secrets and hidden areas -What brings the game into the modern era is a dedicated jump button. You can jump pretty much anywhere and explore the world on entirely new levels -There are also various characters, each with unique abilities outside of combat, and you can switch between them at any time -Characters are just lovely -The game is wonderfully written and well paced, full of great story moments and twists, but it’s only available in English at the moment -I would compare the difficulty to Chrono Trigger. It’s challenging but never unfair, and grinding is never necessary -If you die in a battle, you can retry it immediately -Enemies are visible before battle and can be avoided -Fast battles, quick in and out -Various battle themes -Fallen characters and those outside your active party still gain experience -The game is pure indie at heart, over eight years in the making and packed with content -Lots of side quests -Dedicated character quests that explore each character’s backstory -Secret weapons and bosses -Dungeons with puzzle elements -25 hours of story content (more with side stuff) -Only 20 bucks (discount right now) -Great on Steam Deck -Full controller support -Sometimes the jumping sections demand too much precision -I ran into a few bugs during my playtime. The game froze, I got stuck in walls, the music sometimes cut out, and I wasn’t able to use an item at one point -I reached out to the developers, and they have already responded with multiple updates Kingdoms of the Dump is a love letter to an era that produced some of the greatest RPGs of all time. It’s a modern classic, only held back by some technical issues. For me, it’s the best SNES game that was never actually released on a Super Nintendo. Instead of just talking about it, I wanted to go through it and really break it down to figure out the exact reason for the difference in Jalen Duren's play between the regular season and the playoffs. *LONG BREAKDOWN COMING* First, lets list how much the difference was: Iso in RS: 82nd %ile Iso in PS: 21st %ile Post-ups in RS: 88th %ile Post-ups in PS: 59th %ile PPP on drives in RS: 1.18 ppp PPP on drives in PS: 0.80 Layups in RS: 79th %ile Layups in PS: 19th %ile It was a staggering drop off. Shocking to many of us who watched him all season. So, what happened? Well, #1 I think mentally he was letting his struggles get to him and he started to play out of control. Something that suggests this to me is this stat: He started to figure some things out himself in isolation over the last 2 games against the Cavs. He had six isolation possessions in the final two games against the Cavs; he scored on five of those possessions and drew a foul on the other. Game 6 he started to look confident and really made them pay out of isolation. I really think a ton of it was he got hit with a punch early against ORL and really struggled to handle the pressure and struggles after, and just kept stacking and stacking. So, him being in his own head is #1 for me. #2: His handle got exposed quite a bit. In the regular season, he only had a 4.2 TO% in isolation, which is incredible. In the playoffs, though, that spiked to 20 TO%. On drives in the RS, he had a TO% of 4%. In the PS, it jumped to 13.3%. The first clip below shows how the right-to-left cross he loved doing all season was really taken away from him. Too loose of a handle, and he often got his pocket picked trying this exact move over and over. I think having his go-to move taken from him shook him a bit and left him scrambling a bit in his head to find a counter. The second clip shows, imo, him starting to lose trust in his handle. He immediately turns his back to the defender, which is what you do when you're worried about losing the ball. But, even then, he loses control of the handle and it ends up in a turnover. If I'm the Pistons, I'm showing all his turnovers due to his handle and working with him on tightening his handle and also helping him get comfortable with a counter/second move so defenders don't just sit on the right-to-left cross. #3: I think he really struggled to adjust to the playoff whistle. In the regular season, he drew free throws on 21% of his isolations and 31% of his post-ups. In the PS, it dropped to 14% and 11%, respectively. There were many possessions where in the RS he would've got free throws, but did not in the PS and he was frustrated. In the third clip, you'll see how physical he was being played by Mobley (which we all want physicality in the game). But, in the RS, he probably is getting FTA's here. There are many examples of this where it felt like a lot of his value during the RS was being able to draw FTA's on his drives, and in the PS, refs just allowed more physicality, and he struggled to deal with it. #4: Ausar-Duren duo. I believe in this duo, and I do not think this was the main reason Duren struggled. However, I am not blind to the fact that there were obviously some possessions that hurt Duren. In the regular season, Duen actually got less efficient when Ausar wasn't on the floor. However, in the playoffs, Duren went from 51 TS% with Ausar on the floor (302 minutes) to 64 TS% with Ausar off the floor (121 minutes). In the 4th clip, you really see how the lack of spacing caused a tough shot from Duren. He gets a step on WCJ going right, and probably would prefer to then just use his strength to create spearation. However, he sees Suggs sitting in the right gap off of Ausar, which forces him to spin left. Once he spins left, Paolo is completely leaving Tobias open. This is one of the reasons I really think DET needs a spacing 4 because this should be an easy kickout from Duren to a shooter. He still should've made this pass to Tobias, but a legit shooting 4 I think would relocate to the corner and make an easier outlet/easier to see for Duren. But, he still coulda made the pass, tbf. Either way, you see how the lack of spacing from both Ausar and Tobias forced Duren into a really awkward drive where he was forced into an extremely tough shot. I think if the passing returned from Duren, some of these situations wouldn't happen. Hitting Ausar early as he cuts into the space would work, or hitting Tobias (who again shoulda be making himself more available) beyond the arc results in better offense. But, also, having better spacing probably allows Duren to just get to his original move once he beats WCJ off the dribble. and lastly #5: He really just didn't play well. I can't include any more clips (I'll put some in the immediate thread reply to display), but he really just didn't play well. Missed *a lot* of looks we're used to him making. His touch around the rim left him, looked like he really felt rushed in the paint. He was struggling to secure rebounds after dominating the glass all season (during the RS, he averaged 4.3 second chance points a game, in the PS it dropped to 2.3). During RS, he had a 22.0 DREB%, which dropped to 16.0% in the playoffs. So, I think a lot of factors played into why he struggled so much in the playoffs. My takeaway is I don't think these things are unfixable; actually, I think they're very fixable. Experience of dealing with what playoff physicality is I think is going to help moving forward. All young players have to adjust to that--I think Cade really learned that from NY series to this playoff run. Tightening his handle and just having a second move to go to is not something that should be considered impossible. I'd like to believe it's pretty likely with how much he works and the raw skill he already has with his handle. Pistons adding a legit spacer at the four I think solves a lot and will make Duren's life a lot easier. The most concerning part is mental. And we won't know an answer to that until the next playoffs. Did this experience help him on his journey towards becoming mentally strong and prepared enough to move forward? Did this run help him find a routine that helps him lock in mentally, as many players have said they had to discover? Or will the pressure from struggling last postseason get to him this upcoming postseason? Will he let mistakes get into his head, compound them, and start playing rashly? I don't think the second option will be the case, but no one will know until the next postseason. Honestly, I'm more concerned and critical of his defense in the playoffs (which at times was pretty good and at other times was an incredible struggle), but that would require its own thread. My ending thoughts: I still very much believe in Duren. This playoff run showed he has areas he must sharpen up and learn from, but at 22 that shouldn't be a shocker. He is incredibly talented and made a large jump during the RS. The PS posed challenges he didn't quite have answers to yet. I just sold my startup Talknotes for $200,000 on acquire.com 💸🤯🤩💰🥳🎉 I launched it last August when I was looking for an idea I could grow with paid ads, and made a MVP in one week. I took it from $0 to $7500 MRR in just 11 months. 👉 Here is how I grew it from zero: 💡 Idea: I got the idea when I tried to write a tweet using Google Doc's transcription tool, but it was terrible. And I was pretty sure I wasn't the one too lazy to type. So I made my own solution, and Talknotes was created. The audience is pretty broad so it was a perfect fit for Meta ads However… ✅ Validation: My rule is to only reinvest what the project generates, so, no ads until I make enough cashflow ❌ Listing on startup directories + a few Twitter sales generated $700 after 10 days. Yes, it's not much, but more than enough to show there is interest in the product and tell me to keep working on it 🤩 I started adding the features users requested, but the launch effect started to wear off and daily revenues quickly went to $0 after a few weeks 🫥 I got depressed and almost gave up on the app... 😔 But luckily, my friends and Dan Kulkov pushed me to continue And I'm glad they did because In October, I launched on Product Hunt 😸 and it blew up 🤯 It got Product of the Day and reached $1500 MRR thanks to the media coverage 🚀🚀 Until then, everything was done using vanilla JS/CSS/HTML + Node for back end. It's simple and easy, but I saw the limitations, so I remade the app using Nuxt to make it easier in the future 🏗️ (thanks to @blackevilgoblin and Piotr Jura for the content/courses! Tim Bennetto as well for the basics!) After that, I took a break and then launched ads on Facebook. The strategy is simple: Catch people's attention, and show them how the app can help them improve their life. No need to over-complicate 🙅‍♂️ Making good creatives is 80% of the job when doing ads on Facebook, most of the technical stuff is done by AI now. Thanks to the boost in traffic, I implemented a feedback loop: 1) Get new users 👥 2) Learn to know them with the onboarding form 💬 3) Make more ads based on the data you get from onboarding 📝 And it completely blew up. MRR doubled in ~2 months However... In May, I had a bad burnout 🥵😩 Multiple bugs slipped into the app, and I had to spend 2 days fixing everything in an emergency while revenues plummeted. This completely fucked me up mentally and had a hard time working on the app after that ( 💀💀 So I decided to list it on acquire.com and made a Twitter post ( I listed it for $200,000, a pretty low price considering the revenues and fast growth. I could have gotten $300,000 if I accepted payment over time, but $200,000 today is better than $300,000 tomorrow for me. 🚨 The process went smoothly until we tried to use Escrow, which almost fucked up the whole deal. (details: I got extremely lucky because the buyer really wanted to buy the app, but this could have ended the deal. We had to wait over a week to get the money back from them, even tho they said they already refunded it. But luckily, after threatening them, they sent it back the next day 🙃 The buyer finally got the money back, I transferred every asset to him, and he sent me the wire. With the profit made from the app + the sale, and other projects, I'm 30% away from being a millionaire 🤯 With this amount, I can pretty much retire in Asia if I want to. But that's just the beginning, I’m going to launch new projects soon! 🚀 But before that, I need to take a real vacation and detox. My brain is completely fucked up by those last 2 months. I gained weight, and got brain rot from scrolling all day waiting for the acquisition to move forward 💀💀 Surprisingly, doing absolutely nothing is 10x more exhausting than working 15h per day 🥱 Now, all this might sound like an overnight success. It is not ‼️ This is the result of 7 years of failure and working like a madman. I launched over 40 projects in those 7 years, and most of them failed. But a few took off, and that’s all I needed All those weeks working 15h/day without weekends and vacation feels soul-sucking when you don’t see the end, but this is what took me there You only need to win once to snowball everything.
