I was fighting against them and myself. People say, 'Novak needs to be provoked to bring out his best.' In some situations, that was true and it did happen. But that's not what I want. Who wants to step out on court and be booed? For example, imagine you step out on Bernabeu Stadium and 80,000 people boo you and you have to constantly play in those conditions. It's not easy. All I wanted to say to President Zelenskyy, after this appalling thing that Ukrainians had been through. When they had succeeded against all odds in pushing second biggest army in the world out of Kyiv area. And they had pushed them back in the East a bit, too. They’d done fantastically, they’d done wonders. All I said to him was, “Look, I can’t be more Ukrainian than Ukrainians. But if you want to fight on, then we’re going to be with you.” I had a strong mandate from my cabinet and from Parliament to say that. And that remains the position of the British people.
