I was proud to lead the fight to secure a major victory for the gun owners in President Donald J. Trump’ One Big, Beautiful Bill. The Second Amendment is not a second-class right. Registration and fingerprinting are inconsistent with our Constitutional liberties, and the NFA is an illegal poll tax used as a piggy bank for the federal government. My provision to eliminate the $200 tax on certain NFA items paves the way for dismantling the unconstitutional National Firearms Act. The last thing Texas, or the nation needs are Red Flag Laws. As a military veteran and proud gun owner, I know that burdening law-abiding citizens goes against the very spirit of the Second Amendment. That’s exactly why John Cornyn is in trouble, Texans don’t want gun grabs disguised as “safety.” And every time weak Republicans make concessions with our fundamental rights, what’s the first thing the Left says? “We have to do more.” They will never be satisfied until the 2nd Amendment is erased from history. NOT on my watch.
