Now for some optimism on André Burakovsky: » Started last season with 15 P in 17 GP. Posted just 18 P over the next 58 GP after suffering a concussion. Said to be fully healthy now. » CHI produced the lowest xGF/60 of any team last season. They only...

“Mitch Marner disappears in the playoffs” One of the coolest parts about X is the having the ability to communicate with thousands of people who live in an entirely different universe. In my native reality, Mitch Marner is ranked 28th overall in points-per-game in the playoffs since he’s come into the league among players with 25+ playoff games played. Tied with Barkov and Ovechkin. That’s higher than all other Leafs, Panarin, Bergeron, Tkachuk, Stamkos, J. Robertson, and plenty more. Again, this is from the time he was a rookie - a wee lad. He’s 12th overall in the last 3 seasons with the same filter - and again, 1st on the Leafs. There is a SIGNIFICANT drop off, league-wide, in playoff scoring. This is not a recent phenomenon. There are 33 players with a point-per-game pace or better over the last 3 regular seasons. There are only 13 players at a point-per-game pace or better over the last 3 playoffs - Marner is one of them. Yes, even with his less productive post-season this year. This narrative that Marner disappears in the playoffs is weighted far too heavily on the confirmation bias of disgruntled fans online after the Leafs get eliminated. It is not rooted in reality. Full blown Marner Derangement Syndrome. There are plenty of justifiable reasons for trading Marner. His ability is not one of them. Here’s a quick highlight pack of Marner in the playoffs over the last 3 seasons for those of you whose bias has turned 16’s jersey into an invisibility cloak (courtesy of Danny9 & HockeyAllStar5): #leafsforever

Congrats to Ryan Ward for having his contract selected and being placed on the Dodgers' 40 Man Roster. Wardo was awarded as the Most Valuable Player in the PCL this past season after hitting .290, with an OPS of .937. He posted a WRC+ of 132, and his 36 home runs led ALL of the Minor Leagues During this season he also became the ALL-TIME home runs leader (90) and RBIs (318) in the history of the Bricktown Ballpark Era for OKC baseball. On a personal note, I've been going to AAA OKC games since 1975. That dates back to All-Sports stadium, and 6 different affiliation changes, 5 of which have been in my lifetime, and that I remember VERY well. So, to see this with my own eyes was truly historical on a personal level for me as well. #89ERS And, to have it happen in the first year of the new branding was a real "page turner" of OKC baseball, so that's SUPER cool too. Ward also drove in 122 runs, which is the most of ANY player in the PCL since 2010, and racked up the most total bases (315) of any player in the PCL since 2001. Ward also set single-season records for the Bricktown era in hits (164), runs (113), and RBIs (122). As per his defense... His outfield play has gotten better and better as each year has passed, and, while his bat will likely always be the"show stealer", he is a good athlete and has become a very solid outfielder. He can also play 1st base, and dabbled in a touch of 2nd base while at Bryant Baseball Speaking of Bryant, he's the only Bulldog ever to hit over .400 for a single season, and he struck out just 1 time his senior Season at Millbury, so the "hit tool" is NOT a new thing for him. As an aside, he graduated with fewer than 100 kids in his High School, and he is not shy to show pride in his "small town" work ethic. With all the home runs over the fence, his highlight of last year was an at-bat where he kept the ball IN the park. Wardo knocked an INSIDE-the-park WALKOFF home run back at the beginning of May. Congrats, Wardo, I could type ALL DAY about this dude, but that will do it for NOW. #dodgers

My first Allsvenskan goal was against Djurgården at Fredriksskans on the 10/05/2008. Before I made my first team debut for Kalmar FF, I spent 3months playing for the reserve team while I training with the first team on a daily basis. My first encounter with Nanne Bergstrand before I signed with Kalmar FF, he told me how much he trusted me and how he will love it that I joint the team after laying down the plans for me in the team. He said "you will be the joker of the team this season" I didn't understand what he meant be that but I didn't care about that because I trusted myself enough that I will definitely play more than a joker role if given the chance. So during this 3months playing for the Reverse Team I was not happy at missing games for the first team at all because training with them made me feel like I can play in this team. During one of the games with the reverse team against Malmo FF away from home was when everything thing changed for me. Playing against them is always difficult even their first team. We won the game 3-4 and i scored 4 scored 4 goals against a very good Malmo FF reserve team and that was the last time I played for the reserves that season. The next day there was no recovery for me so I had to training with the first team as usual. Nanne called me before training and told me I will be with part of the first team match squad moving forward. May 10th I scored my first Professional goal after being on the pitch for 10mins and I did it in style. I was so happy to have scored the last goal of the game to give us a comfortable 5-1 win. The joy and tears in my eyes was the reward for my patience and determination to prove myself that I have a place in the first team. I went on to play 21 games for the first team and became the replacement for our Brazilian star Caesar Santin who joined Fc Copenhagen. Be patient with yourself and trust in your abilities to make it happen.

🚨| Sir Lewis Hamilton being asked about his first season with Ferrari and his comments on 'not looking forward' to the upcoming season. Q: How do you look back on your first season with Ferrari? "I don't. I just look forwards." Q: Can we just talk about it a little bit? "There's not really much to say. The results have shown there's some positives to take from it and you just move forwards." Q: What positives can you take from this season? "Gel-ed in the team and there's amazing passion within the team and it's a good focus on for next year. Q: What's the biggest thing you've learnt in the last 12 months or so? "Just, probably just rebounding, just getting back up." Q: Can we reflect very quickly on something you said after the race on Saturday evening in Vegas about not looking forward to next season? You've had a few days to reflect. The adrenaline is no longer in your body. Do you still feel the same way now? "I think I'd be surprised if the other drivers are excited about next year at the end of a season because you usually don't have a lot of energy at the end of a season. You're looking forward to time with family and stuff. But that's just in the heat of frustration. Often there's a lot of frustration at the end of races, particularly when they haven't gone well. I'm excited to see the team next year and continue to build on with them." Q: If the car performs better at these final couple of race weekends, will that change your outlook? "No." Q: What's possible do you think in Qatar this weekend? "I don't know. I think the car should be pretty decent in the areas that Carlos was mentioning. In terms of speed profile, I think our car should be pretty good in those areas. It might be hard to keep up with the Red Bull, but I'm hoping for a better weekend." - F1 2025 Qatar -

Just a two-star recruit out of Miami, FL, Fernando Mendoza was initially slated to go Yale before switching late to Cal. And after an 8-game starting season in 2023, he emerged as a bonafide NFL QB prospect during the 2024 season. And he enters the Big Ten (now at Indiana Football) and the 2025 #NFLDraft process as a QB Draft fans need to get to know: I’d bet on his continued ascent up boards over the next 10 months. Mendoza’s film last year has a LOT to be excited about, from his pocket navigation, deep ball placement, and high release point allowing him to pinpoint at all three levels with control. But what really jumps out in studying Mendoza: his toughness. He faced ample pressure last year and was as good as any quarterback with pressure in his face and finishing through contact as a passer. On plays where he had less than 2.5 seconds to throw, Mendoza was top-5 in the FBS last year in Completion % (min 250 attempts), behind players like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. As you can see in the plays below, Mendoza has the size/arm talent to complete passes with rushers muddying the pocket and/or hitting him, and the rare placement and control to complete those passes at a high level He’s one of just seven FBS returning starters who faced pressure on 170+ snaps. The QB he’s replacing, Kurtis Rourke, faced pressure on a little less than half of Mendoza’s. Plus, Rourke was among the best in the country on play action last year in the Indiana offense, and Mendoza should benefit greatly: he had a 98.2 QB rating in play action passes last year. If you haven’t get, it’s time to get to know Fernando Mendoza. He’s the next surprising rising QB who crashes the early part of the draft. 👀 #ShrineBowlWhosNext East-West Shrine Bowl
