If you ever find yourself in a situation like this, remember: The most important thing to do is keep filming.

“Uh, oh! This looks bad! I better take one step back and hide behind this glass.”

Imagine surviving a large rock slide all the way up to the last boulder. “well at least the bridge survi……and it’s destroyed. Son of a bitch.”

Good job they he sheltered behind the glass, he could have got hurt

The money shot!

This video depicts a landslide in the Sangla Valley near Batseri village in Himachal Pradesh, northern India. The event occurred on July 25, 2021, when heavy rainfall triggered boulders to cascade down the mountainside, destroying a bridge over the Baspa River and resulting in nine fatalities and three injuries.

A principal that many people don’t think about is a dynamic load (in motion) vs a static load (not in motion). You put that boulder gently on that bridge, and the bridge holds just fine. You launch that boulder at the bridge, and it fails spectacularly. It’s why a trebuchet works so well.

Locals just said…

The person filming almost qualified for the Darwin Award.

Spectacular footage, now if they could just remember to use landscape mode. I think I'd be running across whatever building they are in to the far side, impossible to know just how far those rocks will bounce and that was very close.

I am, and can confidently confirm it's fckd.

Much safer looking through the glass windows at the giant rocks heading right towards you. 😂

People recording shit will just stand there while tons of rock are coming towards them like they think the phone screen will protect them.

Rock trolls playing "Break the Bridge." LOL

Like shutting the door would stop those rocks. That said, I imagine this is AI. Something off about how the boulders fly.

Yes, go inside behind the window instead. Much safer. 🤌

I'm a bridge expert... That one's broken... 🤷♂️

Dangerous situation, but got a great video, plus the very last boulder takes out the bridge 😂👍👍

It’ll be fine. Duct tape and some wire will put it right back to new. 😏🇺🇸

It used to be a Bailey bridge that glorious, precision-made, British-built bridge which was the envy of the civilized world

He thought getting behind that glass door made a difference 😂😂

Stand behind a glass door..... that will save you 😂

It's a Bailey bridge—no chance against a boulder with dynamic inertia. A cable-stayed or suspension bridge might have fared better, assuming it had heavy support.

I'm afraid if had been filming, we would not have such dramatic footage. It'd mostly be of my finger half over the lens, and my feet, running the bloody-hell-away!

@grok is this real and if so where was it.

British prisoners have been chosen to build a bridge across the River Kwai, requiring skill, and officers will work as well as men. The Japanese Army cannot have idle mouths to feed. If you work hard, you will be treated well, but if you do not work hard, you will be punished!

Oh My!! That was AWESOME!!

That's an ancient Bailey bridge from WW2. Wow.

WHEN I SAID I WANTED TO GO SOMEWHERE WITH A VIEW AND GET STONED...

Bridge in troubled waters?

I think it’s structural integrity may be somewhat compromised.

@grok if you find yourselfe in a rock slide such as the video, while walking over the mountain with no place to hide, what should you do ?

Funny how the reaction was to go inside....nothing can protect you from a run away boulder.
