Andy Pages made the first 5-star catch of the season last night, just a 5% catch probability on this one according to Statcast! Pages covered 93 feet in 4.9 seconds with the sliding grab. Add a big homer to his +1.2 OAA and Pages is off to a great start!

I just noticed that Andy Pages has a new "best catch of the year" according to catch probability, and it's a great example of how watching the advanced stats can tell you things you won't get from watching on TV. This was the last play of the game last Wednesday. Bogaerts hit the ball 102.3 MPH at a 15° launch angle, and Pages covered 45 feet in 2.9 seconds and did it so efficiently he didn't even have to leave his feet. Statcast has it at just a 5% catch probability.

Not to be a hater right now but this play had an 85% catch probability. Freeman has picked it up with the bat and its great to see but I do not think he is a centerfielder at all.

This just allows me to bring up that time that Statcast gave this batted ball a 95% catch probability, and therefore gave Yoshida -0.95 OAA on a play that is quite literally impossible And if you're wondering, yes I did run the numbers manually to figure this out

I've probably watched this play 25 times. 75% probability. Crow-Armstrong only needs to get to 25 ft/sec, he has 30+ ft/sec at his disposal. As somebody who watches A LOT of outfield plays, there are dozens of guys who turn this into a Catch of the Year nominee...

Statcast gives it just a 20% catch probability, it's Smith's first 5-star grab of the season. +.8 OAA on this play. According to my search, Smith covered more ground than any outfielder did on a catch during all of 2025 (136 feet by Nathan Lukes).
