The first words out of his mouth were that he was an RCMP officer. He also told me he had been there for 2 days. He then started filming me, so I returned the favour and started filming him. He changed his story to being an investigator, when I challenged him about being an RCMP officer. 2/

Today, I rescued a young man from the streets of Nairobi along Moi Avenue. He approached me and requested that I take him to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. However, he had no travel documents or even a national identification card. After engaging him in a conversation, I realized that what he truly needed was help and specifically, mental health support. I decided to take him to Mathare Mental Hospital, but since he was fixated on going to the airport, I gently told him that I was taking him to Mathare International Airport. Upon arrival at the hospital and after an initial assessment, he was admitted for treatment. We contacted his mother, who at first didn’t want to be associated with him due to the many difficulties he had caused her. But I took time to speak with her, convincing her that her son needed help not rejection. I reminded her that despite all he had done, she shouldn't abandon him to the world to "teach him a lesson." What he needed most was love, care, and a chance at recovery.
