NSFAS is pleading with landlords not to evict students while it works on resolving payments. The scheme says a bulk payment of accommodation allowances was processed in May and June, after landlords allegedly locked out beneficiaries. NSFAS administrator Freeman Nomvalo explains. NSFAS’ problem is they’re not there or available to landlords when we need answers. It’s not easy to run this business if we rely on NSFAS for every cent.

Pleading? What nonsense is this? Those landlords have overheads to attend to. NSFAS should just pay. Simple.

This is sad, I studied with NSFAS(then TEFSA) immediately when I started working I arranged for R500 monthly repayments until my debt was paid off. That was in 2004. What’s happening now is really not on.

Sure, as long as it pays 10% more for late payments, as Sars do to us. Landlords have to do cash layouts for services and money is expensive
