P. Chidambaram’s 1998 Parliament speech on India’s nuclear weapons is worth remembering. 🇮🇳 After Pokhran-II, he questioned the need for nuclear weaponisation, urged the government not to enter a nuclear arms race, and argued that nuclear weapons should not become weapons of war. He also called for a clear distinction between weaponisation and militarisation. Fast forward to today, and Chidambaram proudly calls himself a “Dimagi Naxal.” 🇮🇳 The irony writes itself.

After Iran, next is Pakistan. No radical islamic country will be allowed to keep nuclear weapons. The possession of nuclear weapons by radical Islamic countries is a threat to all humanity.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian calls out the double standard surrounding nuclear weapons in the Middle East. “Israel is not a member of the NPT, and they have nuclear weapons in great numbers. So is there any international institution protesting why they have this kind of nuclear weapons?” Pezeshkian contrasted this with the pressure placed on Iran, which remains an NPT member and maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful. Israel has never joined the NPT and maintains a policy of nuclear ambiguity, neither confirming nor denying possession of nuclear weapons. “You have witnessed what they are doing in Gaza and Lebanon.”

Lukashenko on nuclear weapons: If we approach the matter from the standpoint of fairness, does the United States of America possess nuclear weapons? Yes, it does. Okay, the United States is the pioneer of nuclear weapons and has held them for a long time. But Israel remains quiet about the fact that it has nuclear weapons. The Iranians could ask, “Why can’t we have nuclear weapons?” Especially when nearby India and Pakistan are nuclear powers. Why can’t Iran have nuclear weapons? If we want fairness, let us gradually, step by step, eliminate all nuclear weapons in the world. But if nuclear weapons are a deterrent, a guarantee that no one will ever attack you, then Iran has the right, like other nations, to possess nuclear weapons for its own defense.

Professor John Mearsheimer: Israel may ultimately use nuclear weapons against Iran. It is now clear that Israel cannot prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons using its conventional forces. That option does not work. The only option they have left is nuclear weapons. The United States will not stop it.

“How is that idea supposed to be presented? ‘We came to liberate you and just bombed you with nuclear weapons’ — is that it? What’s that supposed to look like?” — Russian politician Dmitry Demushkin explains why it makes zero sense for Russia to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Demushkin also states that Russia has already used everything it had, apart from nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian: When did we ever say that we are seeking nuclear weapons? Developing nuclear weapons is haram from a standpoint of belief, not from a legal perspective. Even if some individuals in Iran may have the incentive to develop nuclear weapons, religiously speaking, they are not allowed to pursue that path.

11 May 1998 — Operation Shakti, Pokhran. India under NDA govt lead by Then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee detonated 5 nuclear devices in the Thar Desert & declared itself a nuclear power — defying the world pressure! PM Vajpayee said: "India is now a nuclear state." And Congress? Sonia Gandhi waited 10 days to say — "Real strength lies in restraint, not in the display of Shakti." P. The destructive potential of today's nuclear weapons is almost impossible to imagine. An attack with a nuclear ballistic missile would be nothing like Hiroshima. Science Time 24 on YouTube has just released a video showing the true scale of modern nuclear weapons

Marjorie Taylor Greene: Nobody ever talks about the fact that Israel has nuclear weapons, Israel has hundreds of nuclear weapons. Like, who’s really going to mess with Israel at the end of the day? They have nuclear weapons. It’s just like—do you ever see anybody freaking out about Kim Jong-un anymore and North Korea? No. Because he has nuclear weapons. So what a lie it is that we really have to support Israel.

Pierre Poilievre says Canada should not develop nuclear weapons. Q: Do you think Canada should have nuclear weapons? Poilievre: I don't see a need for that. I don't know what we would get from it. We don't have any desire to threaten anyone with nuclear weapons, so I don't see a purpose for that right now.
