NuMarathon is extremely different from the original trilogy. but saying that "it has nothing to do with it" is just retarded, and anyone who says that hasn't played either.

Narratively, 100%. Only I kinda wish is that there was a clear distinction with the old and new, seems odd that tech from nearly 400 years ago looks the same as new age tech. Could've been a cool juxtaposition with clashing styles of the old Halo UNSC aesthetic and NuMarathon.

Thanks, Paz, for saying that. I'm sick and tired of people saying it has nothing to do with the original games.

i feel like its sort of an evolution the new style isn’t totally removed from og marathon, but its very different in ways that i think would still fit perfectly in the old trilogy

It reminds me of how the "Marathon 1994 Redux" fan project by Nick De La Torre where it seems to incorporate design aspects from different interpretations of Marathon.

i just love how the corpo plastic nice shiny stuff is all fucking muddy and gross and everything in numarathon. god and the lighting too, so much about the tone is conveyed visually in say cryo archives like its really fucking good stuff that is in a way true to og.

I'm still working out much of the framework. I am trying to break down how the new game it not set in the original universe as we would think, it's set in the Pathways into Darkness 'root' universe if that makes sense. Which is the same one but not the same one also. Typical Marathon infinity shit. We would/should be on the timeline where after the events of the final timeline not failing, life went on. The cinematic short last year gave us the new established timeline and it begins after the events on L'howon, one year later in 2812. This is the point in which the contagion began to infect the colonists. After that the anomaly stuff began as well. A few small things that add up to this understanding. In game (PiD) names and some other stuff from the new lore that has me thinking. I have been obsessed with sorting out the speculation from the canon lore of these 4 older games and I am getting close to establishing a new timeline, post Marathon infinity. Much of which is centered around the events of PID and why we went to TCIV in the first place. And an old friend. Strauss.

Storytelling style and game pace are the two biggest aspects carried over. Surprisingly, dialogue style is similar as well. That almost never happens, especially when the IP is 30 years removed from the last entry.

Would've been great if it wasn't a live service hero extraction shooter. If they took influence from STALKER (actual NPCs, faction warfare in map) and made it single player, that would've made it better.

the genre was a big turn off for me at first, but I think everything else was handled relatively well

The most different aspect is the artstyle, and I would say it's a modern reinterpretation of the OG style, not a completely different one. The presence of very contrasted colors and the design of in-universe interfaces were a thing back then.

If the do the new PvE mode well I think they can use it for storytelling The lore of the game is so good it make me play the original game for the first time

The intro to the game when I saw it on the free weekend was sweet, hope the update in December has enough to draw me back in.

Lots of people do not fucking read, and do not fucking listen. Why are we surprised that a game that requires BOTH is one they don’t like?

the biggest different aspect that I can't stand is the aesthetic not only do I just not like the aesthetic on a personal level but it's also just so drastically different from the originals

okay but if you're an old fan why the fuck would you engage with this slop, it's not an unreasonable conclusion if you write this product off as dogshit that doesn't compare to the original

Saying that antisemitism is unacceptable has nothing to do with Muslim hatred. It is sad and disappointing that these two topics have been connected for today’s debate in the European Parliament. How cynical! Because we all know who needs protection today and against whom. It is the Jewish schools, musea and synagogues that are guarded. And we all know why. But why is it so difficult to say it? To name the reality? We saw it in the streets here in Europe, calling to destroy the Jews. We saw it in the murders in the Jewish museum in Belgium. We saw it in the celebration of the pogrom in Israel. We saw it in the pressure for the silence kept by international organisations who ignored the pain of Jewish women. The reason why they kept silence is the same reason why whenever you say anything about antisemitism, they want to add Muslim hatred in the conversation or they say that you are a racist. It is the reason why so many European countries use taxpayers’ money to sponsor organisations who pretend to fight racism and Islamophobia but are the tentacles of the Muslim brotherhood, operating here to feed its forces against us in Europe. Today is Shani Louks birthday. She was born on February 7th 2001 and killed on October 7th in Israel. Saying that radical Islam is a threat, has nothing to do with Muslim hatred. Saying that antisemitism is unacceptable has nothing to do with Muslim hatred. On the contrary, it has everything to do with human dignity. #EPlenary
