2023 was the year of AI avatars 2024 was the year of AI photos 2025 was the year of AI videos And I think it's becoming clear now that 2026 will be the year of AI world models Fully interactive explorable 3d worlds generated from one or multiple 2d images or a prompt In turn these 2d images can then be generated by AI too So soon you can generate fully explorable virtual 3d worlds based on your own imagination Next will be figuring out how to make those worlds interactive This is World Labs (unaffiliated, but I like it) As always a lot of big AI model companies are now working on the same thing: 3d world models, only World Labs has a real properly working demo (for now) Very exciting time again!

✨ Made a new mini feature on Photo AI: [ Grab from 3d model ] So the problem is we're at that stage in time (typical for AI) where image-to-3d models are not good enough but are fun to play with, but we know they'll be good enough in 1-2 years With [ Make 3d model ] you already can turn any Photo AI pic into a 3d model but it still looks hyper clunky and deformed, but it works! One cool idea I had to make that more useful and made now: Let people make a 3d model then change the view of the it with the 3d viewer, then press [ o ] and it grabs a frame of the 3d That image you can then [ Remix ] (img2img), and it becomes a real photo again and that in turn you can then turn into a video again with [ Make video ] So that essentially gives you a fully freeform camera position control to take photos with One thing I need to fix is the background/skybox, I kinda need to take the original photo and remove the person and just get the background for the 3d model viewer, in this case it should be white, but it's a start!

I'm still playing with 3D storyboards for Seedance 2.0. Even when I ask for a 2D video, using a 3D storyboard often pushes the model toward a 3D look. I haven't tested it extensively yet but there definitely seems to be a bias. So 2D storyboards work better for 2D videos, while 3D storyboards are better suited for 3D or photorealistic outputs. Another thing I found is that my video prompt is already very detailed. If I remove the storyboard section and generate the video without attaching a storyboard, the model still follows the same beats. The main difference is the environment. With a storyboard, it tends to recreate an environment that closely matches the storyboard. I also think storyboards help with certain poses and compositions. If you're curious about the prompts, I've included them below.

Also the [ 🌐 Make 3d model ] feature on Photo AI has been upgraded to Tripo's new state of the art model So you can turn any AI photo or video you took into a 3d model in about a minute AI 3d models are not photorealistic yet, but as you see they're getting closer Before the face was completely distorted, now it's at least visible but still cartooney looking! 👍

Huawei's new 3D lock screen wallpaper is actually pretty interesting. Unlike iPhone's Spatial Photo, which creates a fixed stereoscopic depth effect from a photo, this lets you scan an object 360°, generate a full 3D Gaussian Splatting asset, and use that as your lock screen. Tilt the phone and you're moving through a reconstructed 3D scene, not a fixed stereo image. The part worth paying attention to: 3D capture moving out of creative pipelines and into everyday phone personalization. That's a different kind of adoption curve.

Researchers at Tsinghua University have developed a new method called DISH (Digital Incoherent Synthesis of Holographic light fields) that can print complex millimeter-scale objects almost instantly. Instead of slowly building layer by layer, the system fires thousands of precisely patterned light images from multiple angles into a still vat of liquid resin. Where the light overlaps, the resin instantly hardens into a solid 3D object. The entire process takes just 0.6 seconds. A quick test of using 3d drawing with 6DOF controllers as an "instructor" for a generative AI process. There's so many powerful and fun new ways to create just around the corner.. Here I'm using Dreams, Krea and 3daistudio. The 3d model at the end of the video was generated from the Dreams+Krea output in just around 15 seconds. Only the model on the left is a "true" 3d model. #ai #madeindreams
