NYC is spending $4 MILLION on a pilot program for 17 public bathrooms. At 5 minutes, the bathroom starts warning you. At 8 minutes, it warns you again. After 10 minutes, an automated voice announces that your time has expired and THE DOOR OPENS WHILE YOU ARE STILL INSIDE!!

Calgary has these bathrooms and they are great for folks on a walk but they are expensive to maintain. Even though they auto open security still had to be hired for the area and “peace” officers still need to regular drive bys. Lots of overdose problems even if the door opens.
