I suppose Mamdani doesn't care that everything he is saying is illegal. You can't prevent anyone or any company from leaving a state and much as he would like this to be the Soviet Union, you can't just confiscate somebody's business. My thoughts

It’s insane this can even be said out loud by an elected official without being disqualified from holding office. The moment a politician argues for punishing people for leaving, taxing without jurisdiction, or seizing businesses by force, they’ve crossed from policy into authoritarianism. Exit is a basic American right. If you can’t leave, you aren’t free. The logic is simple and ugly: leave and be fined, resist and be expropriated, comply and be controlled. Any system that has to trap people to survive has already admitted it’s a failure.

I hope the rest of the country is watching!
