Mad Max 2 (aka The Road Warrior), Australia 1981. I visited the area of Outback NSW it was filmed in, back in 2007. My 4wd parked next to a replica of Max's Interceptor. Classic movie, part of an extended 'franchise' based on a dystopian future where outlaw gangs fight over fuel.
