Obamacare is not affordable. Obamacare has never worked. The reality is: Obamacare was ALWAYS designed to create Single-Payer, Government-Run Healthcare. For the past 8 DAYS, Democrats have held our government hostage with a shutdown to subsidize this failed healthcare program.

This is just one district in your home State's stats. for how much healthcare will cost without the ACA subsidies. Do you think Floridians already struggling with astronomical HO insurance can afford this?

We've been waiting for Donald Trump's bigger and better alternative to Obamacare since 2015. And since 2015, he's been telling us, "in two weeks" he'll have a plan. So, until the next two weeks brings us a better healthcare plan, Obamacare is what we have. And millions of people rely on those subsidies in order to afford healthcare. Your plan is to give them nothing.

Obamacare is based on Romneycare. It’s a republican plan. Since it passed, republicans have tried to repeal and weaken it 70 times over 15 years, and only produced 1 non-viable replacement option. In 15 years. You removed the individual mandate, slashed navigator funding by 85%, advertising funding by 90%, halted cost-sharing reduction payments, sabotaged its risk corridor program, repealed year-round enrollment for those below the poverty line, made the Medicaid expansion optional for states, and imposed work requirements on Medicaid enrollees. All of these actions significantly decreased the enrollee pool and significantly increased premiums. You’re talking about taking healthcare away from people and telling us it’s someone else’s fault

And guess what... Recent polling indicates that a majority of Americans, approximately two-thirds, have a favorable view of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), often called Obamacare. Obamacare is even more popular than the last time Trump tried to kill it - POLITICO

WHY have you NOT provided an alternative? Why has NO Republican offered an alternative? WHY is Donald Trump too much a failed leader to get beyond “concepts of a plan” and MUCH TOO WEAK AND IMPOTENT to keep the government open?

Actually, Obamacare is very popular and effective. And it’s funny that Republicans have had almost 10 years now to come up with their own fixes or replacements to it and have not done a single thing. Republican complain and whining about stuff, but they actually can’t govern.

What's the plan to replace the ACA? Are Republicans working on a healthcare plan that the Grifter in Chief and his family can profit from like his new drug plan?

Byron, as usual you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. First, all healthcare is subsidized, not just the Affordable Care Act. Employer-sponsored insurance is subsidized through tax breaks, Medicare and Medicaid are government-funded, and veterans’ care, CHIP, and rural hospital programs are all subsidized. The ACA simply extended that same help to working families who don’t get coverage through their jobs, so they aren’t bankrupted by medical bills. And no, the ACA is not government-run healthcare, and it was never designed to be single-payer. In a single-payer system, like in Canada or the U.K., the government pays all medical bills directly. That’s not what Obamacare does. The ACA relies on private insurance companies, private doctors, and private hospitals. It simply sets consumer protections and offers subsidies so people can afford private coverage. If anything, the ACA preserved the private insurance system Republicans claim to support. Second, Obamacare has worked. It brought the uninsured rate to the lowest level in U.S. history, protected people with preexisting conditions, and capped out-of-pocket costs. Premium increases slowed dramatically after years of private insurance gouging. The “affordable” in the Affordable Care Act isn’t just a slogan, it’s the reason millions of Americans can finally afford coverage that used to be out of reach. And lastly, this is not a Democrat shutdown, it’s a Republican shutdown. Republicans are refusing to pass a clean continuing resolution that keeps the government open without cutting healthcare, WIC, SNAP, veterans’ benefits, and pay for federal workers. They could end the shutdown today without a single Democratic vote, but they won’t, because they’d rather hurt ordinary Americans to score political points. So before you talk about who’s “holding the government hostage,” maybe look at the party that locked the doors.

@brentdgifford Obamacare is absolutely not affordable. Millions have lost coverage entirely due to the cost. Taxpaying families who can’t afford coverage. Insurance is out of control and there is no transparency in the system.

Keeping the ACA tax credits for another year would cost just about the same as Trump is sending to Argentina. I thought you were America first. Guess not.

And your solution is to give us nothing at all. The Republican plan that was supposed to roll out 6 years ago still does not exist. GTFO out of here with that shitty take. I’ll take ACA any day over your NOTHING at all but die scenario.

Obamacare truly ruined the healthcare system. I know I’ve been doing this for over 20 years. Out-of-pocket max is now up to $13,600. So if you go to the hospital, the first $13,600 comes out of your pocket before anything is covered. Some plans give you a couple doctor visits. But that’s it. If you pay cash to the Dr, it’s a third or more cheaper than going through your insurance.

So your plan - let me know if I am getting this right - is to cause even more pain on top of an already 'failing' program so that Americans pay 2-3x their current monthly premiums??
