Today, OCEAN is launching two additional Stratum endpoints. We’ve heard from miners who want a simple way to express support/readiness for BIP110 in their blocks, and we’re making that available. OCEAN has added two new Stratum endpoints: • port 3110 • port 3000 The existing endpoint ( will switch to signaling BIP110 in 1 week (July 15th). DATUM remains the main way OCEAN miners build blocks today, giving miners full control over block construction including the ability to signal directly in the blocks they find. This update simply adds an option to signal for miners who are unable to use DATUM or who need a failover. At OCEAN, we believe miners should have choice in how they participate in the network. Walter Isaacson: If you don't want Elon Musk to control so many industries, you should learn to get stuff done too. “Why is Elon successful at some of these things, like getting 5,000 satellites up? He said we used to be a nation of really great risk-takers. Even the people who ran Boeing probably were risk-takers at one point. Not safety risks, but they were going to try rockets. He said everybody who came here, whether it was on the Mayflower or across the Rio Grande, they were adventurous, they took risks. He says nowadays we have more referees than we have risk-takers. We have more regulators than we have innovators. We have more people saying you can't do it, the lawyers, the whatever. He said it's made it so that our big military contractors can't get anything done. We can't get high-speed rail. I would think that the best way to make sure he doesn't have so much clout on things is for somebody to be able to build more electric vehicles. He built a charging network and then the US Government, Ford, GM, decided to build their own, and they've surrendered because the Tesla charging network works. They are happier and more productive. Would you want to work in your own home office like this or should he just let them have cubicles like everyone else?

They don't want to be responsible for leading Bitcoin because they have executives, board members, and investors who can be held to some account if a State does not like what they are doing. An appropriately functioning network of decentralized nodes provides both leadership to the miners as well as cover from the encroachment of the State. If the miners are doing something the State doesn't like then they can pass the buck to the bitcoiners who run nodes that set and enforce the rules of the network. However, if bitcoiners defer their responsibilities to the top 5 mining nodes then they have essentially surrendered the network to the State. In August, the path of least resistance for the miners will be to flip the bit and activate BIP110. You create a separate document called a phantom stock program. It mirrors your equity but lives outside your operating structure. It says: “If we ever sell this business, you get X%.” No liability. No tax consequences. No changes to your LLC or corporate docs. But if they leave, it goes away. Now your A player is building the business like they own it. Because in the outcome that matters most, they do. It's the cleanest way to recruit, retain, and align without giving up control.
