Odd goal conceded by Kochen today. Fine technical shape on the close range shot by really poor tactical awareness on follow up.

I’d actually argue this goal wasn’t due to poor positioning but rather too much faith in his shitty back line cutting off the right side of the net like they should

Defenders getting megged all the time at all levels. Part of the game. Can’t just assume it won’t happen as a gk. Not to mention that he’s moving to cover the part of the goal his teammate is already camped out at. Very weird gamble to try to see him attempt.

@WabariWalker All indications the attacker would curl far post rather than attempting to Meg near. Never played as a gker but did as a striker and I would have certainly left footed far post Just my 2 cents

It’s a tricky situation for sure but his teammate is covering that far post curl. If Kochen dives right he’s got issues. I think you’re right about the percentages but doesn’t completely negate the possibility of a near post drag or even a trickle down the middle, which Kochen completely abandons. There are a few common outcomes here and I’d love to see Kochen balance more than just the single highest likelihood.

It doesnt negate but in a split second after making a save you have to cover what's expected. Yea there is a defender covering far amd perhaps his presence is why near post was taken, but i think its the move nearly all gkers would take. There are two defenders in the way of near post so kochen likely and righfully assumed hed be heading far, tho it turned out not the case I think hed be criticized more if he didn't cover the far (just my opinion tho)

I hear ya but if Kochen dives right he’s clattering into his teammate! The striker casually (and intentionally) slips it back near post because he’s hoping Kochen doesn’t have a game plan for it. Young gk and all but competitive football gets sloppy in the 18. I’ve yet to see him have that big improv moment. Everything just feels very trained up until this point.

Someone’s never played gk and it shows

It’s just a good goal. He took away the angle Biger had but he still stuck it under 3 defenders. It’s just unlucky and poor defending

That is a legit fantastic save on the first shot

Really common at this level. Two feet off mid-height would be an odd goal to give up.

@GiallorossiYank Bro pulls off a Neuer-like reflex save with a firm outstretched hand from point blank range but it’s “really common at this level” supposedly. 🤣

@GiallorossiYank It’s not a reflex save. It’s a premeditated move betting on percentages. Reflexes saves are actions and responses after the shot occurs.

He’s doing what he’s supposed to do. Player cuts in and runs, he shifts. His responsibility is the near post and defenders cut off the shot back across. The backline is terrible highlighted by all 3 goals.

He gets scored on near post. If he dove to his right he’d either clatter his defender or dive behind him. Defenders not great but you play the situation, not the textbook. It’s a big reason why American gks are struggling on international level.

Every GK is doing exactly what he does here. The space is open to his right, the odds say the shot goes to his right, everything is moving that way. Kochen has been at Barca since he was 14 or so.

Shooters will often go against the odds the gk is betting on so they can score.

That’s why the defenders cover the shot coming back across. Both are trained to do exactly what they did. Defenders have to do better especially considering there was 2.

top first save would argue he gets across his goal a little fast on the second shot but its understandable as hes moving with his defenders in front of him. maybe defenders should have done a bit better to step off the first save but not much he could have done. - (D2 GK)

Reminds me of those 1v1 drills practicing spread shape. Coach yells “YES! Great save!” when GK throws spread save, regardless of whatever else happens in the rep.

Nothibg to do when king Birger decides to score

Lyngby's defense could be described as "soft." Out of three players, one was afraid to throw himself in front of the ball. Lack of experience. I think the goalkeeper is ambitious and determined. He will gradually improve.

He was overcommitted, but he also expected someone to get a block in as three defenders trailed the ball

Defending is shit here. First save is great, then goes on a bit of a walk about. But…have to account for shit defending.
