I was held hostage by three kids until this scene unfolded when I was reading it. Two chapters before and my 12 year old kept grabbing me and shouting ‘we can’t stop until the fight scene!’ It apparently was just gruesome enough for him.

I don’t think this miniseries is a masterpiece, but it’s quite nice, considering the limited budget. The acting is excellent, especially Assante’s. But this scene… this scene gives me chills every time. It perfectly captures the essence of The Odyssey.

This was a great film. With such a limited budget and really dated technology and practical effects at their disposal, they truly delivered where it mattered. The story telling and feel of the film. Andrei Konchalovsky worked with Tarkovsky on some of his best films and it shows.
