Fun fact: It would take the average PC roughly 138,069,000 hours or about 15,761 years to render Avatar: The Way of Water. Here’s how I worked it out: The average PC in 2024 has 6 cores. The average blade on WetaFXs renderfarm has between 16-64 cores. There is roughly 414,000 frames in the finished film, accounting for half of the film being 48fps and half being 24fps at the final runtime of 192 minutes. Each frame took an average of 20-80 hours to render on WetaFXs blades depending on shot complexity and accounting for the 4K delivery resolution. With that info, we can work out the average: We say that the average Weta blade has 40 cores (average between the 16-64 count). That gives a Weta to PC core ratio of 6.67 We also say that the average render time per frame is 50 hours (average of 20-80) Total render time for Weta: 50 hours x 414,000 frames = 20,700,000 hours To work out how long this would be on the average home PC we must multiply by the core ratio from earlier: 50 hours x 6.67 = 333.5 hours per frame Total render time on a home PC: 333.5 hours x 414,000 frames = 138,069,000 hours, which converted to years is 15,761 DISCLAIMER: This is all an educated guess done for fun based on publicly available technical information about the film and Wetas renderfarm. It does not account for any production optimizations, storage limits etc. The real number could be drastically higher. CREDITS: Video is from WetaFXs YouTube channel:

So Jacob Terkelsen, a PC diehard with a history of inaccuracies, did an apples to oranges PC comparison to try to prove Black Myth WuKong's game director was lying or wrong (lol) about Series S's ram limitations coupled with a lack of optimisation experience, being the cause for the lack of an Xbox release. Here's my video debunking him and highlighting numerous inaccuracies and/or misleading aspects to his process, conclusions and data. I've also included a second video where I debunked some of the past things he was also spectacularly wrong about, with similar misplaced analysis and poor methodology. Finally, here is a link to a debate we had in Spaces on X on this subject. Discussion from 3:33:00 onwards. There have been over a dozen studios/devs who have complained about the Series S now, including on memory issues specifically, potentially breaking NDA to do so. But of course, the fanboys continue to try to discredit the developers actually working on these consoles, the folk making the games for this hobby we love, all to pander to their own insecurities and headcanon ideals. Imagine discrediting devs who are willing to share more insight than they ought to, when we should be embracing the insider info. And imagine thinking your own typical play test was equivalent to thousands of hours of QA testing to find worst case scenarios in the game, and of peak ram use. Embarrassing. I should add, I'd imagine the majority of Black Myth WuKong likely runs absolutely fine on Series S. But game optimisation is often about ironing out a minuscule minority of worst case scenarios or issues. Even a handful of problematic areas or instances in a game, could prevent release or certification. Especially if they're egregious (repeatable crashes, bugs, VRAM topping out in a specific scenario etc). #PS5 #SeriesS #BlackMythWuKong

I'd like to take a second to discuss what it means for a storm to be a Category 5. It's a beautiful, mesmerizing, terrifying and awe-inspiring pageant of power and elegance. It's the atmosphere at its most dynamic, raw and extreme. The hurricane has to have an absolutely perfect, undisturbed balance. It's an extremely rare feat. A Category 5 is like a spinning top whirring on a table; even the slightest jiggle can knock it off-kilter – like bumping the table. There must be virtually no shear, or changing winds with height. The upper-level winds around the system must be relatively calm. It's incredible to think that the planet's most furious storms are born out of an abundance of calm. The waters must be exceptionally warm – upwards of 86 degrees – to be replete with "oceanic heat content," or heat energy for the hurricane to draw upon. The warm waters heat and moisten the air above. That air rushes into the building hurricane. As air nears the center of the storm, it expands due to the hurricane's low pressure. That expansion releases heat energy to the environment, encouraging air to rise and powering the storm. In theory, that air parcel (pocket) should cool, but it doesn't. Why? It's still being heated by the oceans below. The ocean is constantly re-heating the lower atmosphere – and energizing the storm – at the exact same rate the air is releasing heat energy into the storm. Most of the moisture in the air condenses and produces rain, releasing even more "latent heat" to the environment. Near the hurricane's center, there's a lot of heat energy. So much so that the air rises, as if in a chimney. That rising air literally lifts air up and away from the surface. There's literally less air, and therefore less air weight, or *pressure*, at the center of the storm. Most Category 5 hurricanes are "missing" about 8-10 percent of the air from the middle. It's that deficit of air that behaves like a vacuum of sorts. Air from outside the storm rushes in to fill the void, like water spiraling into a sink drain. The greater the deficit, the faster the winds. The wind increases exponentially closer to the center of the storm; Category 5 hurricanes have winds over 157 mph. So why doesn't the eye, with the "missing" air, just "fill in?" Because the hurricane is rotating so furiously! The air is flung outwards by the "centrifugal force" at the exact same rate it's being pulled inwards by the "pressure gradient force." The air can never fully reach the eye – and instead it swirls around and around, like water perpetually sloshing around the edges of a toilet. We call that "cyclostrophic balance." Thus, the eye doesn't fill in. The storm charges on. And – until the system is torn apart by disruptive upper-level winds or moves over cooler waters/land – it continues.

"They're going to need a war so big it's going to have to be World War 3 without nukes...to justify the spending they need...[&] What's going on in Israel & Palestine...has the potential to drag in the US & Iran & start a global war." — Ed Dowd, November 11, 2023 This clip of former BlackRock fund manager and founder of Phinance Technologies Edward Dowd (Edward Dowd) is from an interview with James Delingpole (James Delingpole) posted to Rumble in November of 2023. ---------------Partial transcription of clip---------------- "Well, they need the war to. So a lot of people in finance understand this. For the banking system writ large around the globe. It's called inflate or die. Deflation is the bane of all existence for bankers, but it's actually good for the common man because prices go down, but when prices go down, collateral goes down. When collateral goes down, you go bankrupt. "So we've had a constant series of inflations and wars usually kick us out of inflation. After the Great Depression, World War II saved the global economy and reinflated. Then we had the Vietnam War and it's a cycle of wars. We had the Afghanistan, Iraqi War, then we had the COVID War. The next war, they're going to need a war so big it's going to have to be World War three without nukes and, or an alien invasion to justify the spending they need. Because without the spending you have deflationary pressures which cause bankers to get very nervous. "So whether they plan them or they happen because of the system, I don't know. But let's talk about what's going on in Israel and Palestine. That's right on time. Right on time. And right in an area where, it's so controversial, it's going to create a lot of emotion and rage, which it is. I look on Twitter every day and there are people screaming at each other about what's going on. And it has the potential to drag in the US and Iran and start a global war potentially. And it's going to cause oil prices to go up. "And, there's already suspicion, super early. I've seen some Twitter accounts, I've read some articles, that how do the intelligence agencies of the world not know that Hamas is going to do this? You know, there was reports on the ground in Israel that the borders were wide open. Former people that were in the military said, you know, a cat can't cross the Gaza Strip border without alarm bells going off, that something very suspicious occurred. So was this [the October 7th attacks] Israel's Pearl Harbor where they knew it was coming and they let it happen anyways? We don't know. But there's enough smoke around this to suggest that, they probably, you know, Netanyahu and his folks probably were very happy this happened. "You gotta ask the question, cui bono? Who benefits? And it's not the Palestinian normal people or the normal Israeli people. It's Hamas and the Israelis government that benefits because they both get money, because people are going to fund each side."

US-ISRAEL WAR ON IRAN: The UAE’s🇦🇪 ‘years of planning for such a scenario’ prepared it for this crisis ‘The UAE’s air defence system is not only THAAD, it’s a combination of a number of air defence systems, including one that is built here in the UAE. We have recently heard the White House spokesperson specifically say that the attack that has happened on the US Consulate was defended with missiles produced here in the UAE. So that is something that has been in the making for years, and it just happened to happen that we used them today. We hoped that we would never do that. What got me surprised, really, is how nonchalant it feels here. All of these attacks, the number of missiles and drones that have been targeted at the UAE, that is actually more than all of the missiles that went to all of the other countries Iran has targeted. Yet we can drive outside, we go to the mall, we go to restaurants, we go to the mosque for prayer. We need to credit the first responders, the way they have been conducting themselves. Fires have been extinguished at a very high speed. People’s lives are being facilitated and eased up. Tourists who’ve been stranded here in Dubai have got their bill for their hotel extensions picked up by the UAE government, and those corridors are now being opened slowly to allow those stranded to go back home. It’s an amazement of how work of years and years of planning has now come out useful whenever it was needed.’ -Mohammed Baharoon, Director General of the Dubai Public Policy Research Center joins us on Monday’s Going Underground to discuss the UAE’s navigation of the regional crisis Don’t miss it, follow us on X to watch the full interview on Monday, or follow our Rumble 🏴‍☠️ channel, link below in the replies👇

It's PS5 RDNA 1.5 all over again, and reading responses, like a certain fandom never gets tired of being let down or uninformed. There's reasons PS5 often outperforms Xbox Series X despite the latter having 44% more compute than PS5 and being "full RDNA 2", which Digital Foundry did a video on. As I said at the start of the gen, most RDNA2 features Xbox/PC fans claim PS5 is missing, it was unlikely to use as they're Microsoft DirectX RDNA tie in features, and PS5 doesn't use DX but instead its own proprietary custom API called AGC. Why would PlayStation push for Microsoft DirectX RDNA features, when they don't use DirectX? Any AGC API specific graphics features PS5 uses (that Xbox wouldn't have) are not widely publicly advertised, as PlayStation don't need to advertise them the way Microsoft does due to their PC DirectX market. Thus every customisation PS5 has (which Kepler seemingly glosses over or doesn't recognise), from its faster clockspeeds, cache scrubbers, I/O set up, CPU alleviating decompression, DMA controllers and processors, geometry engine etc, will have been specifically designed around AGC or vice versa, NOT DirectX RDNA2 features. PS6 will be no different. There may be DirectX RDNA5 features they do not need or use, but there will inevitably be other unique customisations of their own and for their OWN proprietary API instead, no doubt bolstered by Amethyst custom features from their partnership with AMD. If history is any indicator, PlayStation is right to prioritise their own API and modifications, as these tend to have greater cost to perfomance results for the hardware vs the competition. The RDNA2 DirectX image below is taken directly from AMD's website, and again, PlayStation doesn't use Microsoft's DirectX. #PS6

[New Xbox Controller Review] #ad Special thanks to Qrdgame_offcial for supplying me with a review unit of their Ferrox M5 Xbox & PC Controller QRD Ferrox M5 The QRD Ferrox M5 is a Wireless Xbox One–style gamepad with a transparent design. Since it targets Xbox One natively, it works automatically on PC and Xbox Series S/X. The included 2.4Ghz USB Dongle also supports Switch and Android with the right adapter (USB C), but I was not able to test those in time for this review. A Wireless Xbox Controller The QRD FERROX M5 comes in a familiar Xbox layout with Hall Effect joysticks, RGB rings around the sticks, and a magnetic & detachable clear shell that shows the internals. The controller feels very similar to a standard Xbox pad in terms of shape and size, but it’s slightly lighter at compared to the usual Xbox controller weight. The lighter weight makes it easier to hold for longer sessions without hand fatigue. The D-Pad is surprisingly good at dialing special moves feels as solid and responsive as the official Xbox controller, and that’s impressive at a lower price point. I spent a few days trying out the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection exclusively using this controller and I did not notice any difference at all. Capabilities From what I’ve tested, the controller performs extremely well for action games, fighting games, and shooters. The Hall Effect joysticks offer smooth movement and precise control with no drift issues. The D-Pad uses micro switches, so every input is tactile and accurate. The back triggers support an adaptive “trigger stop” mode, which shortens the travel distance for faster reaction time in FPS games or quicker blocks in Fighting Games. You also get 4 back macro buttons, turbo mode, and adjustable joystick sensitivity with deadzone options. Vibration strength and RGB lighting modes are also customizable. What can it do The FERROX M5 includes an 800mAh battery that lasts around 8 hours of gameplay. It only uses the 2.4Ghz wireless connection, not Bluetooth, so it always requires the included USB Dongle. The good thing is once you sync it with your Xbox or PC, you don’t need to sync it again—it carries over between both devices automatically. The 2.4G connection is stable and low latency, and the controller has a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio and mic support. It also features a quick calibration system to keep sticks and triggers accurate over time. The overall grip and shape feel close to the official Xbox controller, comfortable for long gaming sessions, and the transparent shell gives it a distinct look. Areas of improvement I initially had trouble charging the controller while playing because connecting it to the Xbox via USB would disable all inputs, making it unusable in wired mode. But luckily QRD Support helped and provided me with an updat - I had to connect it to a PC, download the firmware tool from QRD’s website, and update the controller manually. After installing the new firmware, the controller can now charge while being used normally on Xbox, so the issue is fully resolved. The Xbox button also behaves differently on Xbox, where the single press acts like hold and the hold acts like single press; this issue doesn’t appear on PC. Syncing with the dongle took a few attempts on both Xbox and PC, but once paired, it never needed syncing again. The wireless mode is strictly 2.4G with no Bluetooth support, so it cannot connect without the dongle, though the benefit is that one pairing works across both Xbox and PC. Final Summary ✅ Hall Effect Joystick ✅ Lights in the dark ✅ Good D-Pad for input dialing ✅ Light Controller ❌ First sync can be annoying on PC ❌ No bluetooth for phone usage - Dongle is necessary ❌ Needs an update for the Xbox Wired issues which require a PC The Controller is available on Amazon for $59.99, and will be part of the Black Friday Deals on their official website for even more discount!
