The remake skipping this part makes it infinitely inferior. The laughs I got from it are the true spirit of OP.

Removing that second impact and the crowd's shocked reaction is unforgivable

I prefer the Original for one simple reason. I hate dimming. It just ruins any animation I see, for me.
