I was delighted to meet a group from Japan, led by Mr. Isao Iijima, the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Takeju Ogata, the Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, which provided the funds to support our rehabilitation center in Mubende. I would like to express my gratitude for their support for the rehabilitation of our soldiers who were injured and lost their limbs during various wars. On a lighter note, they were aware that I have a brother named Toyota, after the Japanese car brand. I explained that he was born in 1975, around the time when the Toyota brand was newly introduced in Uganda. Because the Toyota cars were long that time and Toyota was tall, he was named after it.

This afternoon, I had the honor of delivering a donation of 50 million shillings to Nsambya Hospital on behalf of His Excellency, Mr. President Yoweri K Museveni. The generous contribution was made to support the family of Mr. Besasire David from Kijunjubwa sub-county, Masindi district, who tragically passed away on December 28th, 2024, after being involved in an accident on October 28th. Despite the family's efforts, they struggled to cover the hospital bill of over 100 million shillings. Thankfully, His Excellency intervened, covering the remaining amount. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency for his kindness and generosity.

KHAN, SAYED & MALEMA There was a parallel exchange between Major General Khan and Mr Julius Malema, intermediated by Mr Sayed. • On 15 June 2021, Mr Sayed forwarded to Major General Khan a message from Mr Julius Malema in the following terms: “Need to know the complaint in case no: SANDTON CAS 76/07/2019.” • He followed this up with a message explaining the source of this request: “Juju bru”. • At 16h57 on 15 June, Major General Khan obliged by providing an extract from the SAPS computerized case filing system with details of the name of the complainant in the case. A copy of the extract from the SAPS case filing system is attached. Major General Khan then also separately messaged Mr Sayed with not only the complainant’s name, but also his address. • The complainant in Sandton CAS 76/07/2019 was the curator of VBS Bank, Mr Anoush Rooplal. Mr Malema has been implicated in the VBS Bank scandal in the plea explanation affidavit of the former VBS Chair, Mr Tshifwa Matodzi who pleaded guilty and was sentenced to an effective 15 year term of imprisonment for his role in the scandal. Mr Matodzi stated in his plea explanation affidavit that, in an attempt to buy EFF political protection for VBS, he had paid bribes of millions of rands to Mr Malema and Mr Floyd Shivambu in the guise of making donations to the EFF. The chief magistrate, Mr Andrew Kabombo, who was scheduled to hear their application today, reportedly travelled to Kampala for “official duties”. The court’s grade one magistrate, Alex Baguma, who presided over today’s court proceedings, told the suspects who have been on remand for a month that he could not hear their application because the case was allocated to Mr Kabombo and not him. He adjourned it to December 11, 2025.
