Oh absolutely, teaching children how to deadlift is basically a one-way ticket to permanent disability. Next they’ll be showing them how to squat and we’ll have an entire generation of kids who can only crawl. Brilliant parenting strategy.

I had several adults try to discourage my interest in weights when I was younger. I’m glad I didn’t listen. You are a great mom, your children are very fortunate.

Yes! They should be training them to eat fast and highly processed food, how to watch Netflix, and them they should read to them about transgenderism! That’s what are children need!

That’s false. Same concept with don’t do knees over toes exercises. Having children growing up weak. Sets them up for an unbalanced adulthood. With that said it’s not a time to put heavy weights. It’s about developing the correct movement patterns for when they get older.

It’s fantastic to see, form being corrected if needed and sensible weight to start of with. It’s these small steps that can start a life long love of fitness.

I don’t get the fear-mongering around the deadlift if you teach them proper form and emphasize lifting weight they can actually handle it’s one of the best exercises of all time

This “child” looks to be about 16 and that is a very light weight. I think teaching basic form at that age is appropriate.

There is nothing wrong with deadlifting and squatting as long as it is done properly and with controlled loading not ego lifting. If what you are insinuating was true the likes of Eddie Hall, Thor, Brian Shaw etc... would have debilitating issues with their backs but they don't

When did deadlifts become so controversial?

Since society became soft and weak … and sensitive

Case in point is myself, told weights were bad when young , been on the weaker side all my life, body x confidence issues lifelong til 41, only just coming past that by strength training, 130kg deads 80kg squats and moving up, so wish I'd had this parenting

It's the best exercise a human being can do actually. Provided your form is correct. If you dont have a straight back and push through the legs you'll be in trouble. Major trouble.

Taught correctly they're adding years to the kids life and quality to those years.

She’s all limbs 😅 So cool! I love training with my son.

Form is all wrong. Supposed to round your back and lift with a quick jerking motion 😉

I've been deadlifting and deadlifting heavy since I was 10. My bone density is 2.5 standard deviations more than average young American male.

I taught my daughter (13 years old) to deadlift, but she started with only the bar. She’s cleanly doing reps with 55 lbs now. You just have to be strict about form

Oh, come on! The deadlift is a great functional movement for all ages if done properly. Better than teaching your kids to watch Netflix all day.

You gotta start somewhere. 👏

They’re really fortunate to have you there to show them proper technique so they don’t get hurt. Respect!

I started weight lifting, including dead lifts, around 45. Never had a problem with that or squats. But I first learned proper form, and with squats in particular, practiced with lower weights for a while before increasing the weight, and have always used a cage or Smith machine for safety.

I started at the same age as him, one of the best decisions of my life. It completely changed me for the better and helped me connect with my body, which is an extremely important skill.

Nah thats good to get kids into fitness. We dont chase and hunt our food like we are supposed to anymore. Best thing is to find a sport that motivates u to do these exercises. Like for me it was boxing. That opened up a whole world of fitness to me as a kid.

I vividly remember playing football in high school. Our coach would have us in the gym, doing a 1 rep max on bench, squat, deadlifts, cleans and other compounds…… one per week 😆 I would’ve loved for someone to have taught me the correct form back then.

Respect strenghtEwa 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I'm detecting sarcasm in your tone****

RAD! 💪🏻

You wouldnt happen to be a fear mongerer, would you?

worth the risk to eliminate a generation of giant whiny pussies
Nah - lads are fine it’s just girls that need protecting. They’ll grow up strong and confused by traditional stereotypes about body image and self worth.

Teach them proper form and there’s no issue.

The comments in this prove that you can be very confident with very little understanding of almost anything.

I don't know this account, so I feel this is sarcasm. Because when done properly with qualified supervision, it's a great part of an exercise program.

Kids like twelve. If they can't handle 40 kilos they have larger concerns

This is perfectly fine. Looks to be around 13-14 years old lifting what looks like 55lbs. Heavy weight should be reserved for when they are at least 16. Prior to that point is form, safety, and an extended loading phase. From here, it looks like the adult is critiquing the form through the entire process and the weight does not seem to be a challenge. Well done by this adult.

My 15 year old son had a micro fracture in his spine from deadlifting with his offseason football conditioning. Had to wear a brace for 3 months every day 23 hours a day. It healed, but the doctor said he sees this all of the time with football players in the offseason. No deadlifting until your growth plates have fully formed.
