i hate the whole "love simon was for the straights" thing. like why should every queer story be depressing?? why can't it be positive and uplifting? its a fucking movie and to see people say it was made for straight people when it was directed by a gay man just bugs me idk

actors don’t owe us an explanation of their sexualities, they don’t need to only play characters that reflect their sexualities - they are actors. ALL we need from them is respectful portrayals of queer stories. and Nick did that. he understood the weight of the responsibility.

What pisses me off about this along with the whole actors sexuality is not our business thing is I can think of SO MANY actors who played queer characters and came out AFTERWARDS because playing a queer character was a safe way for them to explore that!!!
