Shooting a guy because he’s a faster runner than you is wild

Officer is not just protecting himself, he’s protecting the public. Once he pulls a knife he could have taken a hostage or who knows.

The guy is a criminal, sure, but to be shot because the cop wasn't in shape and couldn't catch up??? Are we supposed to just let the female cops shoot us too because they're not fast enough either??

Yeah… that one is definitely one that needs a thorough investigation. If he was threatening people with knives in public as it’s been reported I don’t know that the cop was wrong because he was then running towards a grocery store. Public safety is something to consider.. But if this was just a nonviolent call of some rowdy dude then this cop is done.

This is a tough one. When you go through law enforcement training, you’re taught that a threat to you is also a potential threat to the community. A hostage can be taken. They may hurt someone. You don’t know what other people are thinking. So, it’s ingrained in police that it’s easier to sleep over a dead perp than over an innocent victim. It looks bad, it really does. But so does the death of an innocent person.
