She'll bring the toxicity out eventually. Witnessed it with my parents. Things had to be a fight with Mom. Dad just wanted to do what he enjoyed like fishing. It was a fight when he got back. Dad knew what he'd come home to and try to stay gone as long as he could, but eventually he'd stumble in drunk (liquid courage) which made the fight worse. I didn't realize until later that the only times I saw who my father really was, how happy and full of mirth he could be was when he was away from her.
