That's not how the LA metro works. It's homeless who take shelter under bus stops and use the benches. Sometimes you need to signal that you are actually waiting for the bus

Is bus culture different in certain cities? Yall saying “wave it down!”. In Seattle if there is a person, the bus will stop and open the door. If no one comes up then they leave. Some buses stop no matter what, you don’t even need to do anything to get off, it will just stop.

LA local here. In this city, you MUST stand up and or wave to the bus as they wont stop at all stops if nobody made the request to stop within the bus. Bus drivers do notice you, but if you remain seated as they approach, they WILL assume you're just resting and will drive away. It may be different in other towns, but thats how we do things here.

Imagine waiting for your very first bus in LA... it pretends to stop, then says "not today" and keeps going. I'd be questioning my entire existence. 😂

If there’s multiple routes picking up on this stop and you make no effort to flag the number down the driver assumes you’re waiting for a different line lol it’s pretty simple

As someone who as been using public transit in LA for ~15 years now…this happens A LOT! It actually is such a problem. I’ve been late to work so many times because of this. AND another doesn’t come for a LONG time.

I came from a small town and the first time I rode the bus in Atlanta, I literally ran the circuit like two times to get to my stop because I didn’t know you had to pull the little rope to request a stop 🥲

she actually wasnt at the bus stop lmao. she was just at the little house but LA metro is notorious for having their actual stops down the block no where near the benches. but also buses in LA dont always stop so u gotta wave them down

imma be real with yall idk if it's a california thing but yes, you have to at least move towards the front doors of the bus because most drivers will do this whether they're running behind or not. they only come to a full stop if you make it SUPER obvious that you need a ride🤷🏼
