I interpreted McDavid's comments as "I gave you a discount so you could build a cup winning team. You didn't build a cup winning team yet you expected the team to win. I'm done!"

This video sums up perfectly the fact that he has no idea what’s going on. Excuse after excuse and claims to “understand”. It’s black and white. He hasn’t done anything significant to improve this team, only little changes to make them slightly worse. He should be working overtime this summer to get the deals done that need to be done. Move nurse, bring in mobile responsible defencemen, make a real goalie trade this time, get fast checking bottom six forwards, and a big strong winger that can play with Mcdavid (Tom Wilson type of guy). A lot of the moves are hard to do but he has to find a way, don’t just say you tried, actually get things done.

um talent and size upfront? goaltending? these might be issues invested in Issac Howard, Matty Savoie, had two great young players in hand with Broberg and Holloway Podkolzin has been good I like Walman and Murphy but they really need to figure out some more scoring with size from the wings Mason Marchment, Alex Tuch, Bobby McMann are getting paid this year imo and thats the sort of bodies they need (everyone does)

Bowman took credit for the team Dale Tallon put together in Chicago, then went and absolutely devastated the teams farm system to win 2 Cups & sent the team into cap hell for years!! He’s a no talent bum

The Oilers have never truly succeeded in building a proper supporting cast around McDavid. Making the playoffs with such a weak defensive core and persistent goaltending issues is one thing, but failing to advance past the first round is a major disappointment. The entire management and coaching staff need to be reevaluated. It’s tough to admit, but the Montreal Canadiens’ model seems to be the way to go. A full-scale rebuild and a stroke of luck are needed; the Oilers should consider trading McDavid and 'Montrealizing' their approach if they ever want to achieve real success

Unfortunately for the Oilers, it seems Bowman is far better at answering difficult, uncomfortable questions than he is in building a strong team. Instead of taking it to the next level, the team went down a notch - or two.

The Team was average all year and 1st round. Worse team than last year’s team. If they don’t trade Mcdavid and get some clear talented young players back they should be fired. The team needs a complete overhaul as does Mcdavid. Send him somewhere where his almost prime isn’t done

We had Bowman here in Chicago, he was terrible took all the credit for the Team Talon built, then traded away young players and ruined the Hawks who now are hopefully ending the rebuild to start being competitive after 8 years !
