White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that the administration is "looking into" executive action to ban mail-in voting. Leavitt was responding to a question from Elizabeth Landers about President Donald Trump's claims that mail-in ballots in California's election were under "very serious and legal" review. Landers pressed Leavitt on what evidence the administration had that this voting was "rigged," along with what authority the White House had to ban mail-in voting. Leavitt claimed without evidence that California's universal mail-in ballot system fosters "blatant" fraud, including "fraudulent ballots" in "the names of other people." She said the administration was looking into executive action to ban such a system. Trump has long blasted mail-in voting, blaming it for his loss in 2020 despite officials declaring that year's election the most secure in U.S. history. Jon Favreau: If Democrats get the majority again, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act would have done away with all partisan gerrymandering, and we would have independent redistricting all across the country. That is the dream, independent nonpartisan maps in every state so you don't have this race to the bottom that we're engaged in right now that Republicans started.
