The final evolution is the "Acted" pattern: Perform the action on initialization. Then when the user interacts with the button, inform them that the action already occured and there is no need to click the button.

Act on press is great if the action is low risk. Sometimes giving the user an easy out by letting them hold and slide away from a touch button to not execute the action is useful, especially in texting when you notice a mistake
