I grew up in San Francisco, walking with my family by the Golden Gate Bridge. I still remember the thick and iconic chain railing that gave the place a sense of distinctiveness. Now the chains are gone, and they've been replaced by a soulless metal railing that's colder than a hospital waiting room. I'm sure some bureaucrat somewhere justified it with a tidy spreadsheet, but they stripped away a little piece of San Francisco's soul in the process. This is how a culture loses its charm: slowly, quietly... one small decision at a time.

Simplifying can be good, but simplification is not itself a virtue. What happens when you keep simplifying, and keep simplifying, and keep simplifying? All the logos start to look exactly the same. The personality disappears. Everything starts sounding the same. The Daughters of the Confederacy have presented a memorial of their dead to the Government of the United States. I hope that you have noted the history of the conception of this idea. It was suggested by a President of the United States who had himself been a distinguished officer in the Union Army. It was authorized by an act of Congress of the United States. The corner-stone of the monument was laid by a President of the United States elevated to his position by the votes of the party which had chiefly prided itself upon sustaining the war for the Union, and who, while Secretary of War, had himself given authority to erect it. Last year I was determined to make a contribution to America's 250th Anniversary. This documentary, The Thread of Liberty: Keeping Our Republic, is what came of that desire. I've posted it here in its entirety, as well as at We have an incredible nation, the first ever rights-based government in the history of the world in which the people are sovereign. We should appreciate it and, more importantly, love it. But loving requires understanding and then restoring. There is a great deal to celebrate and there is also a great deal of work that lies before us if we're to restore the republic. One of the central questions for the future of the American Republic is do we still feel an obligation to our experiment in free government? I believe one of the places that we renew the obligation, and begin the restoration, is with a rebirth of instinctive patriotism. I sincerely hope this documentary plays a role in that rebirth. Keep America Free.

This is the result of 1776, which not only lit the fire of liberty in the hearts of Americans, but in people all over the world - a world which eagerly followed America. There is an agenda to separate the American nation from its roots, and those in power are doing that by teaching school children that the founding fathers were “oppressors,” but with historical context, it is undeniable that in reality, they were the greatest champions of liberty in human history. Also shout out to the Iroquois, and the great law of peace - which served as a constitution, but was not written down.

Protecting the Office of the Citizen: A Demand for Accountability and Respect. I am appalled by and totally condemn the abusive language used by Sen. Peter O Nwebonyi against Oby Ezekwesili during a public hearing on sexual harassment allegation Natasha Akpoti raised against Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON. All citizens, irrespective of status, must learn to engage in civil discourse on matters of public concern, however divergent their views may be. Oby Ezekwesili, like every Nigerian, has the right to hold public officials accountable. The aggression on display today reinforces the lived experiences of women in leadership and reflects how male public officials perceive Nigerian women, post elections. No woman, or any citizen, should be harassed or dehumanized for demanding accountability, a duty central to the effective discharge of the duties of the office of the citizen. Public officials must remember that our children are watching and learning from their conduct. As fathers, husbands, brothers, and sons to women, we must all be outraged by such public displays of disrespect. The increasing dysfunction in our public institutions has an unsalutary effect on society and erodes participatory democracy. Despite the current culture of impunity in our institutions, these officials remain public servants accountable to citizens whose sovereign mandate they hold in trust. I salute the women for standing their ground. The office of the citizen is the highest office in the land.

We live in the West. We thought that liberty and equality and the rule of international law is prevalent and that these countries are based on democracy and people have the absolute power. But then when the genocide came, all these values have been exposed. I no longer believe in any of these values. I believe in the principle with these values. But I don’t believe that the Western countries can ever preach to us about human rights or international law or democracy or freedom or equality. I don’t understand what that means anymore in the West, but also at the same time in the UK. The people in the UK have proven to be a people who care for justice, for freedom, for dignity. We have seen a huge massive protest that went out in support of Palestine and in support of the Palestinian people.
