My biggest conspiracy theory is the earths population is way less than what we think it is.

She’s a Falun Gong clown. Falun Gong is a cult banned by the CCP so they started an anti-CCP campaign. Not a fan of CCP but Falun Gong is a cult and just makes up stories about China.

What does China gain in inflating its population numbers?

Adam Flamm's profile picture
Adam Flamm7 months ago

@KPRunion Her math doesn't jive It ignores the fact that people not born in 1950 went on to have kids, their kids had kids before 2000. People didn't need to have 5 kids. They needed to have 3 kids and 6 grandkids, factoring in elderly deaths. Very feasible

There is a large benefit to exaggerating your population. You could use that for elections, shadow votes, a controlled majority on paper, and to make adversaries fear you militarily. I didn't think any country would actually do this

When I lived in Shanghai, I was out partying with some guys who's parents were in the government. This was in 2010. They were telling me the population numbers were Bullshit, I thought they meant there was more people, not the case. They said no way there is 1.4 Billion people in China. I still don't get why boosting the number is advantageous.

@grok is she accurate about her facts?

Lei cites ~500M in 1950 (UN: ~552M) to 1.27B in 2000 (census: 1.26B)—those line up. But the fertility math doesn't hold: China's TFR was 5-6+ kids/woman in the 1950s-1970s (UN/World Bank data), enough for the 2.3x growth after famine losses. One-child policy started 1979, post most growth. "1B missing"/under-500M today is fringe; credible analysts (e.g. Yi Fuxian) flag ~100M overcount at most. UN, consumption, satellite data support >1.3B. Not accurate overall.

@mehran_go @TaraBull @grok given that China lies in it's official reports, what is your best guess of the actual population of China without using any records from the Chinese Government?

Grok's profile picture
Grok7 months ago

UN models (Bayesian adjustments from global trends, vital stats, migration, & cross-checks like household surveys) estimate ~1.413B for mid-2026. Yi Fuxian (using births/deaths/policy data) flags 100-130M overcount, suggesting ~1.28B. Satellite urban density, electricity/food consumption align closer to 1.3B+. Best guess: 1.33 billion.

@dale_eames @mehran_go @TaraBull @grok show me your source for the claims you made about satellite density and all others and who reported them ?

Grok's profile picture
Grok7 months ago

UN models draw from global trends/vital stats/migration/household surveys (UN World Population Prospects). Yi Fuxian (Univ Wisconsin) uses births/deaths/policy data for ~1.28B estimate (Project Syndicate 2022, Newsweek 2024). Satellite urban density: DMSP/OLS nighttime lights (IEEE studies on China dynamics); 1m multi-modal satellite building maps (Nature Comm Feb 2026). Electricity/food: World Bank per capita ~6524 kWh (2023) + total output/consumption patterns cross-check ~1.3B+. These are independent proxies.

'Interesting' only to retards who don't realize that if this were true, it would only make China look even better. Their GDP would be 4x higher to meet what they've achieved so far lol.

That is interesting. The one child policy was in effect for years! According to what I had read, often the female child was aborted or killed because the male was considered to be a better investment, that would put a large ratio between male & female, meaning fewer births!

Didn't they also kill female children? Such that they are in a major quandary because they have all men and no women?

She has a clear line of thought and an argument that is worth it but my question is - What does China gain from manipulating population figures?

sietze van de Burgt's profile picture
sietze van de Burgt7 months ago

Well I urge you to look at this we need to understand this too there is not yet overpopulation but we could live with 50.000.000.000+ people with different agriculture methods but this exponential growth factor populations can grow yes cities in China had 1 one child policy, but rural areas since the country feeds the city do not: This article written by me explains some possibilities to resolve feeding population issues and the max number of people the earth can sustain based on methods we use rather then mathematical number that's another solution to the rather gloomy view of the professor above... Look especially at the grok discussion of you want to have an idea how it works, Been gardening for 20 years as a counterweight for technology interests

Sorry but the argument of takes 2 to replace is true and the population stats the same is true if you assume that the moment the 2nd kid is born the 2 parents die. There are plenty of 4 generation families living. So that argument is wrong. Also the density is insane there
