I remember I had asked Brandon Aiyuk in the offseason if he would be down to do a YouTube live interview and he said that it wasn’t a good time and he’d let me know if something worked out. Naturally I just thought he was good off doing the interview which is perfectly fine but right after the 49ers lost to Philly in the NFCCG, he reached out and dm’d me if I wanted to setup an interview. I thought that was so cool that he really reached back out to set up the interview with me like he said he would. We did the interview, he was great, laid back, we talked ball, the chat was absolutely electric. My favorite interview I’ve ever done. I know BA has done a lot of extremely questionable things as of late but I genuinely miss this dude who just chopped it up with me on stream for over an hour and was super generous with his time.

Adam Sandler says he was focused on the free food he was getting on set of ‘Airheads’ until Brendan went ahead and shot ‘The Mummy’ and he realized he had to be serious. Adam Sandler: “When we did Airheads, we were just young guys thinking, ‘Holy cow, we’re on a movie set!’ We had craft service, food, and we were hanging out every night having the time of our lives. Denzel Washington’s epic monologue towards the end of Training Day was largely improvised on set. Director Antoine Fuqua was so blown away by his performance, he says he thinks he "forgot to yell cut”. He explains… “That’s Denzel. He was just in his zone. I mean, that was one of those moment...people talk about AI. Those are the moments where you go...it's a great tool. It's gonna be a great tool, I think...but the emotion, and the moment that an actor can bring - you can't predict that. That's something that's just inside of Denzel. And when that came out, I was just like - I hope I got it. I just turned to my operator - who was shaking- I looked over at the guy - I was like, “please tell me you got that.” Because that was the take. That was it. There was no other take - I mean, how do you tell an actor like that, that that wasn't good enough? …He walked over to me, and he just had this look in his eyes. I was like, “you good?” He said, “you good?” I said, “Yeah…” Some of that was in the script, but he flipped it the way he did it. "Putting cases on all you." He kind of added some things in there. And then he just went into a whole other zone with the whole King Kong thing- with Pelican Bay - Denzel started that. That was Denzel. That was him, man. He zhongxing was talking about geonwoo's self-discipline on another level during the b2p filming 🥹🤍 💬 He’s extremely self-disciplined. I think he really is. I can tell you guys about it. Back when we were filming it was summer. You know when it comes to how he treats himself…how should I put it his self-requirements, the standards he sets for himself… how do I explain this? There was this one thing that really honestly, even I felt it. I thought, wow, he’s really incredible. We were filming in the middle of summer, you know? It was during summer vacation super hot. Really, really hot. And how disciplined was he? He was so disciplined that, in order to protect his voice, in weather that hot, he wore a scarf. You know? And he drank hot water out of a thermos. I really thought, wow this guy is so cool! Drinking from a thermos, wearing a scarf you know? That scene was just… do you understand the kind of shock I felt seeing that at the time? Everyone else was wearing T-shirts, and we were practicing dancing, completely soaked in sweat. And there he was wearing a scarf. When I saw that, I was really just…I felt that his standards for himself are truly, truly high.

Took my son plane spotting at our usual spot on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam yesterday because he really wanted to catch the second Omega Tanker (the one with the boom). While he was out taking pictures, Security Forces rolled up and started asking why he was photographing aircraft. I walked over and chatted with the young Airman. He was cool about it—he just asked that we not take photos toward the parked C-17s, KC-46s, and KC-135s. No problem at all. We were there for the Omega Tanker anyway. After we got back to the car, Security Forces came by one more time just to look through the photos and confirm we hadn’t taken any of the parked military aircraft. In the end, everything was good, and we got what we came for—a successful catch of the Omega Tanker landing on Runway 8L in Honolulu. Interesting day… but definitely a successful one.

There’s a great moment in The Town: right after robbing an armored truck, the crew is switching cars when they suddenly come face-to-face with a lone cop. He sees them — then looks away. According to Ben Affleck, this was based on a real story. He explains: “For The Town, I went down and just went through all the prisons out there in Massachusetts — federal prisons, state prisons — and sat down and talked to guys who robbed trucks and banks… I’m in Walpole, or I’m in the prison in Dedham or whatever, and some guy said - after talking for two hours - I was like, “Has anything just fucking weird ever happened? Or fucked up? Anything you remember?” And he was like, “Yeah, one time, we were coming out of this thing. We robbed this truck, and we had the switch car. We drove around the corner, and we pull up and we get out — fucking guns and the masks, the whole thing — and we look over and there’s this cop sitting there doing construction duty.” I was like, “Oh shit. What happened?” “You know, he looked at us, we looked at him, he looked the other way.” And I was like, “Really?” He goes, “Yeah. He didn’t want to end up on the wall at the VFW.” I was like, “I’m putting that in the movie - He didn’t want to end up on the wall at the VFW.” It was a great line. He knew it, and everybody knew it.”

My favorite part about this was Karl-Anthony Towns could’ve just come to the station, done our interview and left. Instead he stayed and spent time with us. He was genuinely interested in learning about our jobs. It was such a cool experience. He was getting ready for the NBA Draft. I remember asking him what his first big purchase would be. I love that he said paying off his parents’ mortgage. We were blessed to have KAT at Kentucky. So happy he could win it all with the Knicks. He truly is the best on and off the court!
