I think you’re conflating low-effort button tycoons with sandbox tycoons. The former were repetitive, but the sandbox ones offered genuine creativity and depth. Sounds like it’s not the games, it’s just that you don’t like progression or building systems and that's okay

I'll be honest man, at least tycoons and obbies have an ending; the brainrot games you've mentioned are designed to keep you coming back to do the same thing over and over again, the "offline" mechanic is just an illusion. Both of them were ass, but at least one knew how to stop.

I think it's not blinded by nostalgia but it's just not the type of games people would want to play nowadays. There are some high quality games that don't get recognition and some that do but I think it's just not the type of games people would want to play. That's just me tho.

old tycoon games were PEAK bro. Steal a Brainrot is just a more complicated tycoon, and old tycoons had those items you could use (stealing them felt like a spy operation frfr). No hate to SAB tho, its an ok game.

good take but most of the old obbies were better than these brainrot types of games the brainrot games kind of do the same ideas and they get boring after a while but there are different types of obby games that have different stages that get harder as you progress.
