old man rants about fighting game difficulty pt. 1056

This video made me not wanna complain ever again about Tekken 8. I'm going to. But before I hit send, I'm gonna think about this tweet every time.

I think the larger issue with fighting games versus other genres, especially when it comes to noobs versus experienced players is that the noobs in fighting games have way less agency. In shooting games, you run around you get to do stuff and noobs die fast. They then get to go next. The bad moment is immediately over. In fighting games the bigger the discrepancy between skill levels the less agency the worse player has especially with 2xko having good combos averaging over 20 seconds long. So in lopsided matches, it’s always 20 cutscenes .5 - 4 seconds of agency, looped until death. TFT another big riot game, one of the more common complaints /pain points for players is the 5 second finisher after people get killed. Fighting games take this to another level. I love the genre, but I don’t how to fix this issues, to make onboarding a more fun experience

Fortnite had so many players in the beginning because it was fresh and almost no one was good at the game. The build celling got higher and lots of people left the game which led to no builds being created. Difficulty played a huge part.

ppl just play ranked only i think is the problem, if u play with friend(s) and start shit talking eachother that shit is so fun time flies by, me and my friend doing it since day 1 but we’re both tekken god now, the fun made us better
