Love this from #Illini head coach Brad Underwood - asked if he has any issue/finds it unfair to have to play Houston IN Houston in the Sweet 16. "I could care less... I'm an old JUCO ball coach. I drove on 16 passenger fans. I drove from Dodge City, Kansas to Mesa, Arizona for a basketball game... If you had told me back then that I'm getting to coach basketball in the Sweet 16 and play Houston - I would sign up for it, I would crawl to get there." Dream car secured 🕺I started getting media test cars 20 years ago this year. One of the very first was one of these, and goodness knows how 19-year old me didn't kill himself in this car, especially in a stormy Cape Town winter 😅 I've kept an eye on the Lumina market since then and finally, the right car from the right owner at the right time came up. This thing is immaculate, FSH and completely factory original, except for a custom 8-pot big brake upgrade kit. -- I truly believe in helping people without asking for anything return. The way this car came to me, I randomly met a good friend of a good friend; young parents with a toddler. They bought an old high-miler X3 which soon failed; chain jumped and took out the head. They reached out to me for help and through my networks I helped them get a better salvage price. -- The guy who helped them is a serious collector from Pretoria and one of the nicest humans I've ever met. We started chatting often and he randomly asked me one day if I'd be interested in his Lumina, and the rest is history. What you're watching here is me seeing the car for the very first time. 39-year old me is so happy for 19-year old me, and 19-year old me is over the moon for 39-year old me. -- A massive thank you to the amazing people at Moto Village Cape Town who helped make this dream a reality. The team there have always supported me, Yovanie Ganesh and our businesses and I will forever be grateful for their kindness. -- My first intern and now full-time employee is 22 now, and he once messaged me privately and said he is struggling because he feels like he hasn't achieved anything. I told him two things that day: firstly, never compare your life to anyone else's - there are just too many variables - comparing your life to others is a surefire path to demotivation and misery. Secondly, I bought my first car when I was 33. I told him there is always time, and never, ever, ever give up. -- Can't wait to share this car with all of you. A 2-day-old foal bouncing with excitement to see her mom 🐎💞 I watched this video and found it so adorable 🥰 It’s just a little filly, only two days old, named Miss Tehya. They were leading her out of the barn. And yet her legs kept bouncing, her head stretched forward as if she was about to meet someone very important. She wanted to run to her mom. Her legs were still clumsy, her steps unsteady, but you could clearly see how happy she was. It was as if the only thing worth doing at that moment was getting closer to her mother. Foals can usually stand up and follow their mothers just a few hours after birth. That’s an instinct that keeps them from being left behind. But watching Miss Tehya, it didn’t feel like just instinct. It felt more like a little child eagerly running toward the person she trusts the most. Miss Tehya was born at a rescue farm and is being raised safely. But while watching the video, I didn’t think much about that. I just saw a baby horse happy to be with her mom, and it made my heart feel a little lighter. For people who raise horses, this moment probably means even more. It reminds us that the bond between a mare and her foal starts very early, and that keeping them close from the very beginning really matters. Just a two-day-old foal, bouncing along toward her mother. But it was enough to make me smile ☺️

There are many SERIOUS RISKS involved, including: 1) Identity theft from photos and videos 2) Sexual exploitation and grooming 3) Cyberbullying 4) Doxing and Kidnapping Risk Shocking statistics from the Identity Theft Resource Center reveal that 1.3 million childrens' records are stolen each year in the US. The problem is getting worse with a 63% increase in cases from 2021 compared to 2019. And based on reports to authorities, these figures are just the tip of the iceberg! Tracy Kitten, an expert on online safety: “the picture our findings paint quickly becomes dark, grim, and scary.” Sexual predators are increasingly using AI to create CHILD SEX ABUSE CONTENT by applying deep-fake image generators. They use real pictures taken from social media and place these on child pornography from paedophile gangs. A.I can also be used to impersonate an individual’s voice which can be used for fraud, extortion and cyberbullying. Imagine your child’s voice being used to say embarrassing things, and then this is used to extort or bully them. Another risk is doxing (revealing one’s address or other personal details), something I have spoken about at length. A video or image can provide geolocation A.I tools with enough unique information to very accurately reveal the location where pictures or videos were taken. This data can then be used by human traffickers to plan a kidnapping of the child. Remember WSJ’s report last month about Instagram’s “VAST PAEDOPHILE NETWORK" seeking underage sexual content and activity? MY FRIEND AND HER 7 YEAR OLD SON: As I was writing this tweet, a close friend and employee sent me a message that made me sick. She saw her son (who I know extremely well) taking his t-shirt off while chatting online. When she checked his phone, he was in a Telegram group with other children and was being asked by a '6-year old girl' to send her nudes. The girl sent him nudes as well. Based on the chat and the style of writing, it was obvious to her this was an adult impersonating the girl in order to get naked photos of her son. She also told me about a common scam in which criminals use A.I voice generators to impersonate children, and call the grandparents pretending the child is in trouble (robbed/imprisoned/kidnapped), then requesting money to be transferred. Paedophelia, to me, is one of the most serious problems we face. Mix this with A.I. and we have a VERY MAJOR problem, one we are not yet ready for. The short video below sums up the tweet very well. Anybody who saw these guys fistfight in front of the Portland ICE building last night knew it was coming. They were jawing at eachother for 30+ minutes straight. There was zero attempt by Portland police to de-escalate or intervene. Guy ended up getting rocked. What if he had fallen and hit his head & died or gotten seriously injured? There were two Portland police liaisons watching from across the street the whole time. They did nothing. Look at the red circle in the back of this video we shot. That’s a Portland Police liaison in the white shirt on the street corner. They saw the whole fight & lead up to it and did nothing. It was the Feds who had to come out and give the man medical treatment even though it wasn’t their jurisdiction on the street in front of the federal building. Nick Sortor points out that neither of the men who fought were arrested by Portland police, but he was.

Jim Jarmusch on how he got the idea to make "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai" (1999): "It really came about from wanting to work with Forest Whitaker, who I met when I was going to the Super-8 lab when I was working on 'Year of the Horse' (1997), or maybe on the video. I ran into him a couple of times and we would just start talking and he said to me the first time, "Hey, if you ever think of anything for me, let me know, I'd love to work with you." I couldn't get him out of my head, certain qualities that he has and it was more from talking to him as a person than his work. I was very, very moved by his portrayal of Charlie Parker in 'Bird' (1988). I thought it was a beautiful performance, although I'm a big be-bop fan and I did not like the movie in terms of its slant on depicting the life of Bird - how can you make a film about Bird in which Miles Davis is never even mentioned? There were a lot of things really odd to me about it. Miles' estate probably refused to let him use his name. With good reason. They usually use this very soft, gentle, poignant side of Forest and he gets cast as the loveable soft guy. And I'm really attracted to that quality, but there is a whole other side to him, just physically, his presence, there's more there than that and I wanted to get both of those things in a character. So I started thinking how can I do that? He should be a warrior and I thought he should be a hitman, that sort of cliché and then the samurai thing came to me because in eastern-culture warriors, there is a whole spiritual side to their training. If you look at the Shaolin monks in China, they're martial arts experts, but they are priests; they are enlightened religious teachers, but the physical side is also completely intertwined. So that gave me the idea to give him some depth. Then the book 'Hugga Kurai', because it's a text from the 1750s written by an old samurai as a guide to samurai life and philosophy. It contains so many things, minor, mundane details about the food you eat, or how your house is built, how often you clean your armour, to incredibly deep Zen philosophy, and it's all in this book and it jumps from one to the next. Then I just started collecting disparate ideas; I was interested in the decline of organised crime families in New York because I used to live right across from the Gambino family social club in Little Italy, and in the late 70s and early 80s when they were unravelling, and I would always see them on the street - John Gotti and Sammy 'The Bull' Gravano and Neil Belacroche and all those wise guys. So I collected some ideas about them, and the idea of pigeons came from the fact that on the roof behind me, there was an old Italian guy who had a pigeon coop for years. He died just before we started filming actually, and his birds were moved away, but I used to watch him fly his birds a lot and there was something very beautiful in that movement. Jim Jarmusch on how he got the idea to make "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai" (1999): "It really came about from wanting to work with Forest Whitaker, who I met when I was going to the Super-8 lab when I was working on 'Year of the Horse' (1997), or maybe on the video. I ran into him a couple of times and we would just start talking and he said to me the first time, "Hey, if you ever think of anything for me, let me know, I'd love to work with you." I couldn't get him out of my head, certain qualities that he has and it was more from talking to him as a person than his work. I was very, very moved by his portrayal of Charlie Parker in 'Bird' (1988). I thought it was a beautiful performance, although I'm a big be-bop fan and I did not like the movie in terms of its slant on depicting the life of Bird - how can you make a film about Bird in which Miles Davis is never even mentioned? There were a lot of things really odd to me about it. Miles' estate probably refused to let him use his name. With good reason. They usually use this very soft, gentle, poignant side of Forest and he gets cast as the loveable soft guy. And I'm really attracted to that quality, but there is a whole other side to him, just physically, his presence, there's more there than that and I wanted to get both of those things in a character. So I started thinking how can I do that? He should be a warrior and I thought he should be a hitman, that sort of cliché and then the samurai thing came to me because in eastern-culture warriors, there is a whole spiritual side to their training. If you look at the Shaolin monks in China, they're martial arts experts, but they are priests; they are enlightened religious teachers, but the physical side is also completely intertwined. So that gave me the idea to give him some depth. Then the book 'Hugga Kurai', because it's a text from the 1750s written by an old samurai as a guide to samurai life and philosophy. It contains so many things, minor, mundane details about the food you eat, or how your house is built, how often you clean your armour, to incredibly deep Zen philosophy, and it's all in this book and it jumps from one to the next. Then I just started collecting disparate ideas; I was interested in the decline of organised crime families in New York because I used to live right across from the Gambino family social club in Little Italy, and in the late 70s and early 80s when they were unravelling, and I would always see them on the street - John Gotti and Sammy 'The Bull' Gravano and Neil Belacroche and all those wise guys. So I collected some ideas about them, and the idea of pigeons came from the fact that on the roof behind me, there was an old Italian guy who had a pigeon coop for years. He died just before we started filming actually, and his birds were moved away, but I used to watch him fly his birds a lot and there was something very beautiful in that movement. My partner and I got attacked at Download Festival on Sunday. We just stopped to watch a band and a women sat about 10 feet behind us in a chair marched up behind us and shouted 'f*cking get out of my way'. We told her it's a festival, we can stand where we like and you can stand up if you want to see the band. chill out! A young women next to me said she had said the same to her. The woman then continued a tirade of verbal abuse which included, you are a pair of 'big c*ocks', and 'I am going to hit you'. She then ran up behind me, ripped my hat off my head which pulled my neck back and then threw my hat into the crowd. Her male friend then punched my partner in the face. When I turned I pushed her away from me, she then grabbed my hair and kept pulling it until I was on the ground she then repeatedly kicked me in the head, face and body with her heavy boots . Luckily some wonderful bystanders pulled her away from me, as she was much bigger than me, both in height and width. We went to the security and police and they said because I pushed her I would be offered a Community Resolution, which I refused to accept. They also said we might be evicted from the festival. We were not treated as victims of assault we were treated as trouble makers. The police failed to take a full statement from us and the Download security didn't even bother talking to us, just the people that attacked us. These terrible people weren't arrested or evicted from the festival, they were allowed to stay and to potentially go on to verbally abuse and attack other innocent people. I complained to the police and did another statement yesterday. The man taking the statement was shocked as it did not come across as we were victims at all in the statement taken at the festival. It's shocking that a police office saw the video of me on the floor being repeatedly kicked in the head and face and failed to report it correctly, identify us a victims of assault and evict or arrest our attackers. I am a 55 year old woman with epilepsy, I don't drink or take drugs, my parter is 53 and didn't drink as he was driving. I was looking forward to Download as a distraction as my Mum has just been killed by medical negligence and I have been spending my time dealing with the coroners and all that goes with it. It's been the worst time of my life and this experience has just sent me over the edge. Shame on the police for victim blaming and failing to protect the public from dangerous people. As for the person at Download security you should be ashamed of yourself, believing them over us and not bothering to collect evidence from both sides. I have attached a video of me being attacked and some photos of the aggressive woman. In one of the photos you can see her being held back, so she would have happily gone back in to attack me again. I had to go home as I didn't feel safe staying, as they were still at the festival, plus I wasn't in any fit state to stay. I currently can't work as my chest has been stamped on and i'm struggling to move and breath properly. Eating is fun as the right side of my face and teeth are really uncomfortable and my lip is cut. My vision has also been intermittently blurry and I have felt dizzy. I work for myself, so getting paid time off isn't an option. We did get some witnesses but if you or anyone you know saw this women attacking or verbally abusing anyone please let me know. Let's get the face of the women who thinks it's ok to stamp on someones face and head at Download Festival known. People like this should be banned from any festival for life. MY HOUSE STORY From 2020 - 2025.( 5Years of house struggle) • In 2020 I was chased out of my One Room Apartment because I couldn't pay 36,000 Naira for house rent and I was 6 months Overdue, So I went to stay in Church and all through Covid I was in Church although I was in 200level but I didn't go home, • In 2021 I moved to a friend's place and Few Months into staying, he would cook and lock the food in a locker whenever he was going out, He tried for me because a roof over my head was more than Enough, Then I went back to Squat with another friend in School Hotel, From 2021 and then I was already attending another church which I started staying in. • In 2022 Which was the year I graduated. I had some issues with the guy I was staying with in School Hotel in 2022 So my graduation day I had no where people could visit me, So I remember not snapping picture with my classmates while graduating because I didn't have a white so I sneaked out and went to cry in church, It was my best friend at the time that came looking for me and gave me his white to snap when it was already getting dark. • 2022 I Started Squatting Off campus and still staying in church. • In 2023 - 2024 fourth Quarter I was staying in an abandoned Office in a lecture hall, So when I'm inside before lectures I cannot come out till Evening that lecture is done and people go home, and that's when I can come out stroll to school hostel to even bath. Y'all know how I was able to get my apartment last year so no need for that story. I could have gotten a GLE with 32m but I choose a land because I suffered so much to get roofs over my head for 5years. I couldn't believe I will be wherd I am in just a year. This one is a must read. I hope the takeaway is, at minimum, eye opening. To any player/parent trying to navigate the recruiting process right now - here is some perspective for you. I came across this video recently on Twitter - It’s a video of Juan Soto when he was 16 years old in the Dominican Republic. (Credit to parker hageman for digging it up and posting it.) I decided to do an informal case study. I sent the Soto video to 13 high-level baseball evaluators - 4 current MLB scouts, 7 current and former D1 recruiting coordinators & head coaches, 1 former pro manager/ college head coach, and 1 current JC head coach. All guys that I know and trust to give honest feedback. I told them that I had just started working with this 16 year old international player and that I was hoping to get their feedback from an evaluation perspective. 3 of the 13 knew it was Soto from the video. Of the other 10, here were the results: - 1 current D1 coach said “He looks like he’s gonna get paid. I have money for a ’26 if he doesn’t want to sign with an MLB team. Somebody will pay that swing.” - 2 of them liked his physical upside and bat speed and said once he puts on some weight they think he’s got a chance. - 7 of them said something along the lines of… “He needs to go to a JC”, “he has too much effort in his swing”, “looks like he has some timing issues”, etc... The video was taken shortly before he signed for $1.5m with the Washington Nationals. He is a future Hall of Famer. Let that sink in for a moment. The question is, why were the majority of these college coaches and scouts flawed in their initial evaluation of the short video I sent them of a guy who signed for $1.5m with the Washington Nationals a few months later? - Are they bad evaluators? - Was the video not a good enough representation of Soto’s ability? - Was there not enough context as to his track record and other tools to make an informed evaluation? - Is it just difficult to evaluate a player off of 1 minute of video? - Did the fact that he is an international guy change things? - If he had hit 3 homers in this video reel would they have a different opinion? In all honesty, I wasn’t surprised by any of these responses. I might’ve said the same thing if I didn’t know it was Soto. It is likely a combination of multiple of the reasons I listed above… but the point I am trying to make here is this: I hear all the time from high school and JC players/parents about how frustrated, disappointed, or defeated they feel because they aren’t getting interest from college coaches, and because coaches don’t respond to their emails & DM’s. So here is the perspective that you need to understand: even Juan Soto’s video from a few months before signing a $1.5m contract didn’t garner the type of interest that you would expect. Are you better than Juan Soto was at 16 years old? Are you a future hall of fame caliber player? There are so many factors that go into the recruiting process. It is a multi-sided marketplace where each stakeholder (college coach and player) has to have a mutual need and interest in one another. Baseball is the hardest sport to evaluate and it’s not even close, IMO. Coaches and scouts are wrong all the time. Players can get exponentially better in a short period of time. It’s not always a pretty process, but all it takes is one coach to see something in you and want to invest in you. Dial in the things you can control. Make sure coaches to have the full picture of who you are as a player and why you can help them win. And don’t be upset when you get limited responses/feedback. It happened to Soto too - and he is much better than you.
