At the start of this year, Phil Mickelson had a crushing ball speed of 165mph. Within 2 months he upped that to high 170’s and topping over 180. That’s an incredible jump for a man in his 50’s! He puts it down to training with speed sticks and explains how he has to change his release the faster he gets. “What I do notice is as I speed the swing up, I have to change the release point of my golf swing. I use length to create the leverage that I want, so it takes a lot of pressure off. But, as I do that, I have to change where the release is. But if I speed up, when I get down to the ball the face will be open.
