Someone needs to come up with a creative financing solution for the construction costs. One that gets repaid at refinance post construction at new appraised value. Put that in a box and have small-scale developers offer it as package to homeowners.

@CP24 Where are these houses? Who’s going to finance that? Also, say you’re living alone with your family in a bungalow - why is this idea the least bit attractive? You’re now a landlord, taken out more debt for a major reno & changed the nature of your property for what?

@CP24 The woman who when Jack was alive, were living in community housing just to "save a buck". Go figure. Politicians making their 6 figured salaries living in community housing and she has the nerve to tell us what to do with our houses? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Spent the day at LeFrak City in Queens talking to residents about affordable housing With a 1% vacancy rate, NYC is in the midst of a housing crisis — how do you solve it? Build, build, build. There are over 1K sites ready to be developed today. Cut the red tape, expedite the permitting process and get shovels in the ground, generating good paying jobs in the process. My plan is to build 500K units of new housing to increase supply and drive costs down for everyone — market rate and rent regulated I did it as Housing Secretary, and with LGA airport, Moynihan Train Hall and the 2nd avenue subway — we can do it again now

We have a terrible problem with a lack of housing, which is driving up rents. We have a 1% vacancy rate. We need development desperately and quickly to bring the supply up and costs down across the board. Right now it takes 4 years to get a permit. I built LaGuardia airport in 4 years. My plan is to build 50,000 units a year because we can, and we will.

Rich people like you? Hardworking, working class New Yorkers are being pushed from their neighborhoods. Let’s build affordable housing that helps the people who need it. I'd double housing vouchers, make rent tax deductible just like mortgages, and ban private equity from buying up our homes.
