US President Trump threatened to "blow up" Oman if it did not "behave". Reports have since claimed the US is pressuring Oman to cut ties with Iran. So, why is Oman remaining strictly neutral? And will it agree to US demands to take a side in the conflict?

Iranian Lawmaker Warns OMAN Over Secret U.S. Naval Support Ali Khadrian, a member of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told Tasnim News that Iranian strikes hit the Port of Duqm in northeast Oman, describing it as a logistical hub for enemy naval groups and a refueling platform for American aircraft carriers. "The Islamic Republic of Iran, whether with Oman or without Oman, will not back down from the strategic Strait of Hormuz." "The Sultanate of Oman can either cooperate with us on this matter, or if it doesn't cooperate and chooses to secretly assist the enemy, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not spare its own territory from being hit by its missiles." Iran just told a Gulf neighbor its ports are fair game.

On his comment last week about making the Strait of Hormuz a territory of the United States, President Trump said Monday, “I just think it’s a great idea.” “We control it with the blockade, and I like the idea of declaring it a territory,” he said. “We have total control over the strait now.” Trump threatened Monday to bomb Oman if the country "gets in the way" of U.S. efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war with Iran, according to Fox News. Earlier, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tehran had reached an agreement with Oman regarding future shipping routes in the strait.

Ali Akbar Dareini explains new route through the Strait of Hormuz under Iran-Oman control — a deal he says was due to be finalized before Trump threatened to “blow up Oman.” The proposal would see Iran control inbound traffic while Oman and Iran jointly oversee ships exiting the Persian Gulf. Dareini says the deal would guarantee safe passage through the Strait and prevent it from becoming a trigger for another attack on Iran. Full breakdown on Sanchez Effect.
