Can't wait for this! I'm running Omarchy on a 2017 T1 Mac and not having the touchbar sucksss

Did you save your EFI Partition / data?

Justin Starner's profile picture
Justin Starner1 month ago

That would be a negative, am I cooked?

Boyd's profile picture
Boyd1 month ago

Not cooked, but it's a pain in the ass. To get it back you need to re-install MacOS. That data is required to get Touch ID to function properly.

Oh and I also meant to ask, does this fix sleep/hibernate mode?

Not yet. Been focused on Touch ID mainly

Can't wait for this to ship! I went through the hell of getting the T1 chip to work w/ Xubuntu earlier this year, so getting basic functionality on Omarchy was easy, but I'm looking forward the fingerprint reader working and having better support for the touchbar.

Amazing has it fixed the sleep résumé problème with the Radeon card and loss of WiFi?

Boyd's profile picture

I hacked a WiFi fix together but it’s not part of this package. This particular package will only concern itself with T1 functions. Ultimate goal is to get all 64-bit Intel Macs working great with Omarchy out of the box.

Makes me want to get a touchbar MacBook Pro again!

Dude have you got Bluetooth sound working? I've got a 2017 Macbook pro, and while BT works, when I connect my earbuds or BT speakers, the sound is incredibly choppy.

Boyd's profile picture

Apart from some work needed to make the speakers not sound thin I haven’t had audio / Bluetooth issues.

Ett Venter's profile picture

Ugh. Yeah I can't get BT audio to work reliably at all.

Oh Omarchy? Which specific model?

Ett Venter's profile picture

Yeah on Omarchy. Mine is the 2017 15" MBP. I believe it's the one that's got the Macbook 14,3 identifier. Sound doesn't work on my built in speakers either. My Mic also doesn't work. I tried troubleshooting it with an agent but it just didn't work.

It’s been a while since I last try on my old MacBook (back when you had to install arch first). Two things made it difficult to use, suspend and speaker tuning. Are those any better?

Boyd's profile picture

I have speakers sounding alright. Have not tackled suspend yet.

🫡 I just installed Omarchy on a similar Mac and was referred by a colleague to your X to do just this! I've also got to figure out audio as well. Should be fun!

Ohhh wtf esperando con ansias eso. Tengo MacBook Air m1 2020 tenía entendido que no está funcionando debido a que está sin hacerle ingeniería inversa en el touchID

How are you moving so fast?

Boyd's profile picture
Boyd1 month ago

You can just ask for things! Especially is you have engineeringscar tissue and know what to ask for as you steer the agent.

Wow. This looks like a lot of fun. Coming primarily from web dev, I never thought I would be hacking away on the OS..

Do you know if anyone is working on T2?

BlackMist's profile picture
BlackMist1 month ago

One question: "how does the T1 attach its SEP service to the relay endpoint under Linux, NCM, a specific bringup message, or embeddedOS reversing?"

Boyd's profile picture
Boyd1 month ago

Running some errands but when I’m back at my desk I’ll get that answer.

BlackMist's profile picture
BlackMist1 month ago

Thanks! It’s been fun so far trying to “jailbreak” the touchID but I’m running out of options and your answer might be a leapfrog

Boyd's profile picture
Boyd1 month ago

Here's the deets: "Neither NCM nor embeddedOS. SEP is bulk on iBridge USB interface 7, fixed 0x4400-byte frames w/ a KernelRelay v2 header. Bringup is 3 control msgs: smGetVersion → smEndpointStatus → smEnableEndpoint for endpoints 1 (ACM), 2 (SSE), 3 (KeyStore). Wire format came from reversing the macOS High Sierra host driver side, not bridgeOS."

Thanks for pointing at the right direction!
