No. They are not piss plates. They are made from oil. While urea is found in urine, urine is not collected and extracted. It comes from fossil fuel sources which are mostly decomposed microorganisms. 🤦‍♂️

Someone tell her urea is also used in many skincare and moisturizers too. Let go on thinking she's been rubbing urine all over her body for years😂

No it’s NOT piss. It’s called Urea-Methanal aka Urea-Formaldehyde. It’s entirely man made Urea-methanal, also known as urea-formaldehyde (UF), is a hard, non-transparent thermosetting synthetic resin made by reacting urea and formaldehyde. It accounts for roughly 80% of all global amino resin production. Urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin is made through a two-step step-growth (condensation) polymerization reaction between urea and formaldehyde. The industrial manufacturing process is commonly referred to by chemists as the "alkali-acid-alkali" method because it relies on shifting the pH of the mixture to control the chemical structures. The Chemical Process 1. Step 1: Methylolation (Alkaline Phase) • The Setup: Urea and formaldehyde are mixed in an aqueous solution. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or ammonia is added to adjust the pH to a mild alkaline state (typically pH 7.0 to 9.0). • The Reaction: In this basic medium, formaldehyde reacts with the nitrogen atoms in the urea molecules. This is an addition reaction that attaches methylol functional groups to the urea, forming intermediates called monomethylol urea and dimethylol urea. 2. Step 2: Polycondensation (Acidic Phase) • The Setup: An acid, such as sulfuric acid or lactic acid, is introduced to drop the pH down to an acidic state (typically pH 4.0 to 5.5). The mixture is heated to around 80–90°C. • The Reaction: The acidic environment kicks off a cross-linking condensation polymerization. The methylol groups react with hydrogen atoms on adjacent urea molecules. As they link up to form long, complex chains and three-dimensional polymer matrixes, water (H₂O) is split off and released as a byproduct. The liquid begins to transform into a thick, cloudy, viscous syrup. 3. Step 3: Stabilization (Final Alkaline Phase) • Once the solution reaches the desired viscosity, the chemical reaction must be stopped. • The pH is adjusted back to a stable, mild alkaline state (pH 7.0 to 8.0), and the solution is cooled down. • More raw urea is frequently added during this final step to react with and neutralize any leftover "free" formaldehyde, which helps significantly lower future gas emissions. Final Product Forms The resulting clear or white syrupy liquid can be used directly as a liquid wood adhesive. Alternatively, industrial manufacturers can spray-dry the syrup into a stable powder. This powder can be mixed with water later to create glues or blended with cellulose fillers and cured under heat and pressure to mold solid, durable plastic objects.

It comes from pig piss specifically. It’s also the only ingredient aside from water in DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) and it’s so horrifically crosive we’re to use gloves when handling it and if it touches any electrical connecter you’re supposed to cut it off immediately.

Melamine is an organic, nitrogen-rich chemical compound (C3H6N6) used to create durable synthetic resins, plastics, laminates, and foam. If you heat that up with food in it and eat the food you will eventually develop kidney failure

Formaldehyde is also in a TON of our clothing. Cooling shirts, wrinkle free no iron shirts…. Formaldehyde. I know this bc my mom is now allergic to so much clothing. Gives her a literal chemical burn

Urea is one of the chemicals that your body disposes of in your urine. There are lots of things that exit your body via urine: urea, various electrolytes, vitamin c, uric acid etc etc. Urea is not urine. It says not to microwave because heat could cause migration of chemicals into food.

If you DO put it in the microwave and it turns blue, youve converted it into cyanuric acid which we use in swimming pools.

Although the process does indeed involve urea (urea is not urine, just one nitrogen component of it), the commercial urea that's used is produced synthetically (mostly from ammonia and carbon dioxide), not by collecting actual piss.

It's really just a different type of "plastic" Made mostly from fossil fuels, just like any other plastic. It's just closer to ceramic in that it's harder and more brittle. In many ways it's more durable, in other ways, not so much.

I’m guessing she got those at some kind of dollar store. Either way that’s messed up. What are they doing to us? I kind of wish she would have showed us the proof though.

Don't eat or drink anything out of plastic, the US does not have the same laws for imported products. Microwave salt water in a ceramic coffee cup from China, the outside begins to crystalizes! Inside was the same.

Melamine is often used for cabinet construction I’ve been around the materials for years. I’ve seen it used in all sorts of things but plates is a new one… That stuff belongs miles away from any microwave.

She asked Google the wrong question, is my main guess, here. The urea in this case is most likely commercially made, and they make it using ammonia and carbon dioxide. Now, people can also hear "ammonia" and think "urine", however the ammonia that is used is entirely synthetic and made by heating and pressurizing nitrogen and hydrogen gases. So, it would be more accurate to say that is a fart plate, because the hydrogen used is usually sourced from methane. However, the methane they use in plastics is not collected from farts, so even "fart plate" would not be strictly true. >< It is harvested from fossil fuels, essentially. This lesson brought to you from asking Google very pointed questions. The more you know! 💡

No. Synthetic urea is a commonly used industrial product that is made in factories (hence synthetic) and formaldehyde is basically a preservative that also functions as a binder. It’s used in resins.
