The first time I let it go in the recovery room I was still very high on the drugs and I yelled....Get down incoming fire.....Apparently that was new for my nurses because they couldn't stop laughing.

I've never had one so I cannot speak from experience but it sounds trauma-inducing

You don't need to be under anaesthesia for a colonoscopy. Didn't know until my second(a year ago). Doc&nurses confirmed I didn't need it if I didn't want it. I HATE waking up from anaesthesia. Hate. Plus you need to have somebody hanging around to drive you home, and you're druggy/unreliable for the rest of the day. It wasn't too bad, plus I could watch the view of my colon on the monitor. A few points where it felt like minor "pinching", but Doc just said to roll over, change position, and the pinching went away. Zero serious discomfort. Zero. No discomfort afterwards. Also makes it easier for the doc, because if things get caught a bit, they can just ask you to change position. Dr and I trading jokes about the contents of the colon while we watched the "movie" of the day. Even after days taking that colon cleanse, there was still ... chunks ... floating about, but not enough to block the docs/our view. Because of that, I understand why they need you to do the mega-flush. The beauty was ... once we were done, I wiped things down, got my clothes on, and checked out of the hospital, all in about 5-10 minutes. Boom! I drove Bro and I back to my home where his vehicle was, got there about 2PM, and was able to do whatever the heck I wanted to for the rest of the day. NO wasted day. Bro was pissed when I told him he didn't actually have to have been there! I apologized by paying for us to have brunch on the way home. Next time.
