Winter driving. Watch the road way far ahead of you. If things don't look normal up ahead then start to slow down. Speed is your enemy. Don't slam on the brakes. Don't make any sudden moves, gentle is key. If you get surprised, it's already too late.

February 2021 ice storm in Dallas. 6 dead, 133 vehicles in this pile up.

Old Trucker tips You wont always see it, but when the roads are wet and it cools down, watch the spray coming off of other vehicles tires. If the road is still shiny and the spray stops, you are more than likely on ice. Also bridges always ice up first, the are cooled from below

“Hey…why are there so many flashing lights & what looks like hundreds of cars all stopped up ahead?” “Fuck it…speed up!”

Check weather report, never go out if it's icy!!! 4x4 don't mean shit on ice , pro driver tips 4u

If absolutely anyone was paying attention this would not have happened. The tractor trailer had enough traction to stop. These people record instead of hiking up the road and warning ⚠️ drivers......

Look at how fast those stupid people are driving! Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that in conditions like that you don’t go fast. Their insurance should refuse to pay off on the grounds that they were willfully negligent.

I always have to just shake my head at all the dumb comments on a video like this. Black ice looks like wet asphalt. It’s too late before you even know it’s there

Lmao this is why you don’t like driving on black ice? Weird, I thought everyone liked driving on black ice.

I-35 Ft Worth Texas a few years ago

Insurance companies

All of the lights ahead and the morons are still barreling along

Doesn’t anyone look down the road while they are driving, and slow to conditions? Cuz damn those cars were full speed. Black ice or not, that’s a lot of bad driving decisions.

Too many stupid people driving way too fast for the conditions and not paying attention to an accident scene.

I had 2 friends/Coworkers in 2 separate instances die in Lake Tahoe in the 90's because of "black ice" they didnt do anything wrong, its just inherently, that dangerous! (on a very high mountain, and going thru the tunnel, (U.S. 50)😢

Why were they all driving so fast on black ice? The same reason they do it when it rains. Everyone is in too big of a hurry.

This is from a few years back in Ft Worth. I lived 2 miles away and remember this night well. Geez smh!

This has got to be the WORST pile up accident in history, cuz wtf 😳

this happened in ft worth, texas i think february 2021. I used to live around 3-5 miles away from this location

For the folks saying why don’t they stop? You never drove on black ice before— it’s because they can’t! There’s no traction

There should be a protocol where if a flare of a specific color is shot in the air on a highway its a warning of a unforeseen threat. Teach it when people get their licenses. Have it required on trucker rigs or all drivers and tragedies like this can be avoided

We drive on ice and black ice 5 months of the year. Alway be ready for every corner to have black ice. Be prepared.

Weirdly it’s all woman drivers.

Why in the world are they driving so fast in these conditions?

@SULLY10X Everyone driving too fast for conditions results in this

Um, it's not the driving on black ice, it's the sliding on black ice that does the damage.

that’s not just driving on ice! That’s not paying enough attention to what’s going on in front of you. You may still not be able stop but at least the crash will be less intense.

Holy fucking shit the insurance claims I can't even imagine

St*pid people filming that scene should have done something to reduce the number of vehicles crashing. Go to like 500m before they crash and try to wave the car to slow down. It was night and even the phone flashlight would help

Why aren’t they warning drivers 200m up the road instead of just standing there filming it.

My ex husband went down a rivien in the mountains from black ice. Scary situation.

I hope this is AI !

These drivers were not driving defensively!! Rain, glare, sun or snow, when you’re on the road you must drive slow. Car, boat, truck or broom, betwixt you and others leave lots of room!

@SaltyGoat17 Why the fluff are people driving so damned fast???
