OMG What is this?

it’s wax (paraffin/candle-type wax) being used to make Japanese food samples (shokuhin sampuru). The video shows the classic process: molten colored wax is poured/dripped into water (or onto a surface), then shaped by hand into realistic-looking food items—in this case, lettuce/cabbage leaves and heads. These durable, detailed plastic-looking replicas are commonly displayed in restaurant windows in Japan so customers can see the dishes.

Wax food art… it’s what they use for restaurants to show what the dishes look like instead of photos… they make all the components separately…

Stop this before it starts another pandemic

it's not edible, it's how they make fake food for display and pictures,as real food goes bad and may not have the "perfect shape" for certain pics like catalogs or long time display

🇯🇵 "Food samples," which originated in the late 1920s or around 1930, are now displayed at the entrances of many restaurants and are also sold as souvenirs.
