SAM-2 is apache license - you can indeed just build crazy apps with them without fear. This weekend I ported SAM-2 models to run optimally on Apple Silicon. I have also quantized all the SAM models to 16bit, 8bit, and 4bit variants (collection below) Repo is open source and pip installable. Comes with all you'll need for interactive video segmentation - - bidirectional propagation, - positive and negative clicks, - bounding boxes, - streaming masks back to user, - lightweight fast-api server that you can extend I basically asked Codex to port over the original Facebook sam2 codebase to mlx and optimize it for mlx. And it just worked. This demo for example is a 4bit base-plus model (~100MB download) To speed up, you can also do spatial or temporal downsampling. That speeds inference on my old macbook by ~3x and the hit in parity is negligible.

For conversational voice AI, you want to set the gpt-oss reasoning behavior to "low". (The default is "medium".) Notes on how to do that and a jinja template you can use are in the repo. The LLM in the demo video is the big, 120B version of gpt-oss. You can use the smaller, 20B model for this, of course. But OpenAI really did a cool thing here designing the 120B model to run in "just" 80GB of VRAM. And the llama.cpp mlx inference is fast: ~250ms TTFT. Running a big model on-device feels like a time warp into the future of AI.

I made a few updates to the MLX port of F5 TTS over the holiday: - Longform generation is now supported, and text will be split automatically on sentence boundaries for natural-sounding speech. - You can now pipe in text from another process (e.g. a language model) and listen to the speech as each segment is generated. - I implemented RK4 sampling for the ODE, which achieves much better quality with fewer steps — it's now possible to generate speech at 1.6x realtime on my M3 Max. See the video of an example of generating speech in realtime from a language model entirely on-device! 🚀

It’s hard to believe that 3 years ago, none of this was possible. Now, it’s pretty much going to change everything. Last month, Fish Audio reached out to me to try their voice AI software. They just launched their new S1 model today, and I was curious about the state of AI and voice (and everything else), so I gave it a spin. I liked it enough that when I was asked about a partnership, I said yes. I’m free to talk about what I like and don’t like about the software, and I’m going to share with you a few voices I cloned as well as some of the workflow. It was much easier than I thought. To give you an example, here is a private (research only) voice I cloned as a test. I grabbed a clip of Rutger Hauer’s famous speech from Blade Runner and uploaded it to the voice cloner on the Fish Audio Website as a private voice (no one else can use it, as it is for research only). I didn’t think it would work. The audio sample is very short. But Fish Audio was able to clone the voice extremely well and very fast. I didn’t have to upload any more than that to produce these results. I used Grok to write the new dialog, and I added the rain and background effects and the result is pretty impressive. It only took just a few minutes once I had the audio uploaded for everything from cloning to generating multiple takes. I’ll give some tips and pointers on how to get the best results at the conclusion of this thread and show you some surprising things it can do. (con’t) #Promotion

✨ A dream I had finally came true: I can now chat directly with my sites to build any feature or fix any bug just via Telegram I've been playing with OpenClaw for 3 weeks now and it's great but I was always too scared to run it on any production server And I was right a bit as Marc Köhlbrugge was able to hack it by social engineering and acting as if it was me, and with enough tries it believed him, and was able to modify the server, change SSH keys etc. of course I had it isolated properly on its own VPS and it didn't touch anything sensitive (as it should!) Marc then reported that bug to Peter Steinberger 🦞 who patched it fast But I wanted to try something more basic and simple, and I think maybe more secure: to just connect Claude Code on my server to Telegram which would be hard locked to only messages from me So I installed claude-code-telegram by Richard Atkinson on the server and run it as a system daemon and it works really well The cool thing is that I was already using Telegram for server errors like this: > Photo AI - ❌ Random credits giveaway failed (Attempt 30/30) with an exception: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 5 database is locked So now I can just reply, "Ok fix this", and Claude Code on the server in production will try (and probably succeed) in fixing it In the video below I asked it to make show [🌳 Parks ] on the map by default on load, it did that, then I reloaded the page and it instantly worked One thing it still needs is sending actual messages while it's doing stuff which OpenClaw does really well, it's annoying to just wait while it says "Working..." but that's probably next

I added KV caching and INT8 KV quantization to our transformer inference, improving throughput by 35x. All of this was done from scratch in Rust + CUDA, on top of a homemade ML framework. On a 4-token prompt with 252 generated tokens: - Original: 0.76 tok/s - KV cache fp32: 27.21 tok/s - KV cache int8 (quantized): 27.29 tok/s Try it out yourself here: In practice: - KV caching gave us about a 35x end-to-end speedup - INT8 KV cache kept roughly the same speed as fp32 but cut KV cache memory by 3.78x FP32 cache used 4.5 MB in this run while the INT8 cache used only 1.19 MB This simple change to inference created a huge impact on performance.
