umar Khalid planned conspired riots wanted to make India inslamic state. His actions killed tens of people and cost hundreds of crores of loss. If He did even 1/1000 of the crimes in any western country he would have been killed by now. Thanks to India he gets trial after trial. He must be immediately hanged and a lesson taught for all criminals.

First of all, it should be important for everyone to know that he was not arrested for just these incendiary words… he was arrested for conspiring to foment riots. That said these words are pretty horrible as well… the whole strategy of ethnic cleansing of pandits and to then do a vote and separate is obvious. General rule of thumb has been to increase their population in a particular place (higher birth rate, kill others /make it unliveable) and Umar is basically just that same philosophy up in a different wrapper. What if parts of India self-determined that they don’t want to live with any other religion? The system has the onus of preserving the country, imperfectly as it may be doing so at times. I actually do support a speedy trial for Umar…. That is something that the country owes them and to itself…. and the fact that for a matter as serious is this, there has been no trial in so many years is a real travesty…. Of course Once heart goes out for his mother, sister and family and friends… but it does for everyone else affected by the riots. Also that he has been accused of playing an important role in.. the only right way out of all of this is to ensure a fair, speedy trial

As he completes six years in Tihar jail, reading news reports about students and young people protesting the NEET paper leak made Umar Khalid feel a rise of "restlessness”, he said, speaking to his friends and family. He longs to somehow “get the sensory taste of the potential of dissent” and be surrounded by “the charismatic youth of my country”. More than anything, these reports lift him out of despair. "The experiences of the last twelve years have demonstrated to them that the RSS-BJP are not working for nation-building, but are destroying it brick by brick. I also read some reports about students carrying placards calling for my release. I smile within and feel the warmth of camaraderie," he said. For Khalid, the significance lies in the fact that despite “all the lies, all the propaganda, and all the violence and threats”, young people have not been deterred from exercising their freedom and agency. “They are once again proclaiming to the state: we see you.” He also writes about his book, Fractured Communities: Adivasi Histories and the Politics of Power, being received with kindness – something that “reaffirms my belief in the power of words”.
