Probably my best day as a Cowboys fan and my all time favorite game.

Agree. And the Harper slant is my favorite play in all of football

Can't put my finger on why it was so much better back then. The announcers were great, and that's always been a big thing for me. I guess I was just at the right age back then.

This is peak NFL for me. Incredible action, two titans facing off. History between the two. So many future hall of famers. Pat and John. Old CBS broadcast. It's just hard to overstate how awesome the NFL was from around 81 through the end of the 90s. I really miss it.

The 90s CBS NFL theme song was awesome.

I had forgotten just how garbage the field was at Candlestick. Everyone was slipping.

It was horribly beautiful! And before the game, Jimmy knew the entire layout of the field relative to where it was worst. More importantly, he made sure Norv Turner called plays to minimize skill players being in those spots.

Commentary without screaming, what a concept.

Knew we were screwed when Young hit Rice for long TD on first drive and it got called back for holding.

I had forgotten how many turnovers the Niners had. Some were forced, but at least 2 were self-inflicted but the Niners.

The old school NFL on CBS theme is an underrated banger.

I only have one thing left to say..."How 'bout them Cowboys?"

I was at Bay Area-West (BYU) then. I was so pissed that we didn’t have school (bc of MLK Jr Day) the day after that game bc I wanted to wear my Starter jacket with pride while the wounds were nice & fresh!

Yeah, best intro ever. As far as the game, the 49ers laid an egg that day and Dallas did not.

Freshman year in college. Was home for the holidays. When Harper caught that slant and made his run my father and I embraced in the middle of the living room and jumped in circles out of pure joy. I’ll never forget that as long as I live.

Also didn't realize that the Puttin on the Ritz guy got into officiating when he got older.

Field conditions are atrocious. This is why every stadium should be a dome

It’s glorious. Domes are a scourge on college & pro football

I’m not saying they beat the 70s, Steelers, ‘84/‘89 Niners, ‘91 Redskins (supremely underrated team), or the ‘00 Ravens. But I like their chances. Of all those teams, they were the most balanced in terms of dominance, IMO, although a strong case can be made for Pittsburgh.
