Under international law, enforced disappearance is counted as a crime against humanity. Yet families in Pakistan continue to live with uncertainty, fear and unanswered questions about the fate of their loved ones. On this International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, HRCP calls on the state to recover all victims safely and promptly, ensure due process and fair trials, criminalise enforced disappearance, and hold all those responsible accountable. Pakistan must also ratify the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, restructure the ineffective Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, provide reparations to victims and families, and facilitate a visit by the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances. No disappearance without accountability. No family without answers.

PAKISTAN: What do teachers, students, labourers, minors, people with disabilities and activists in Pakistan have in common? They have all been subjected to enforced disappearances. Families of the forcibly disappeared have to deal with a legal system that has failed to provide truth and justice. On International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, families are left only with questions and memories of their loved ones. Pakistani authorities must: 📌 Stop the practice of enforced disappearances; 📌 Unconditionally disclose the fate and/or whereabouts of forcibly disappeared people to their families; 📌 Ensure accountability for all cases of enforced disappearances. #EndEnforcedDisappearances Defence of Human Rights Pakistan

PAKISTAN: Today on International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, thousands of families await the return of their loved ones. Today, Amnesty International and seven other civil society organizations highlighted the failure of the Pakistani authorities to address enforced disappearance and continued injustice for victims. The government-formed Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances (COIED) has registered a total of 10,592 cases from 2010 to August 2025. However, not a single person or authority has been prosecuted in these cases. Pakistan must end impunity for enforced disappearances NOW. 🔗 Read our joint statement here: Defence of Human Rights Pakistan #EndEnforcedDisappearances

Where is Dr. Robert Luggya Kayingo? Why is the regime not producing him despite a court order? Echoes the tragic tale of the 18 missing National Unity Platform supporters. The people of Uganda must not look on as these enforced disappearances persist. #FreeUganda

Using all means, including your 5th generation warfare, won't justify enforced disappearances and Baloch Genocide. We will persist our struggle against state atrocities until justice is provided to the 1000’s of Baloch missing persons families. #ReleaseBalochMissingPersons
