"A severe lack of knowledge.” I wonder how our 21 year-old Senator would go with this CLIMATE QUIZ …. 1. If Australia where to go Net Zero by 2050 (and assuming C02 is the control knob for global temperatures as per the IPCC estimates) to the nearest 1/100th of a degree, what will be the difference average global temperatures at the end of this century ? 2. As a percentage, what is the level of CO2 currently in the atmosphere? 3. Australia has 21 GW of coal-fired capacity left, all of which is to be eliminated by 2050 under Net Zero. What is the total capacity in GW of the new coal-fired power stations under construction in China ? 4. Australia mines around 390 million tonnes of coal annually. How many million tonnes of coal does India mine annually, and by how many millions of tonnes are they planning to increase it by over the next 5 years 5. As a percentage of C02, what is the ideal level of Co2 in the atmosphere. 6. Explain the chemical difference between "Carbon pollution" and the CO2 that turns still water in sparkling mineral water. 7. Of Australia’s total "emissions" that are planned to be reduced to Net Zero - what percentage of these total emmissions come from electricity generation ? 8. To the nearest degree, what is the current average global temperature ? 9. To the nearest degree, what is the ideal average global temperature ? 10. Being from South Australia, in what year did the highest temperature ever record in SA occur. 11. In what year did Adelaide experience its longest run of extremely hot days ? 12. According to the peer-reviewed research, what has been trend in rainfall over past 150 years in Adelaide? 13. What has been the trend in the number of Australian cyclones (both severe and non severe) since 1970 - are they increasing, decreasing or steady 14. Over the past century, is the area of Australia beung burnt annually by bushfires increasing, decreasing or steady. 15. What is the biggest killer; extreme hot weather or extreme cold weather? 16. How will Net Zero be achieved in the agriculture sector, where the "emmissions" to be reduced to Net Zero come from the burps and farts 17. Explain how the subsidies work for roof-top solar 18. What will be the penalty payable on a new Ford Ranger in 4 years time under the so-called vehicle efficiency standards If have such a lack of knowledge, that you can’t answer questions, you have no place commenting on Net Zero and no place speaking about in Parliament.

🇺🇦🇷🇺Following a devastating, multi-day Ukrainian drone offensive targeting Russian maritime logistics, Moscow has been forced to temporarily suspend all shipping through the critical Don-Azov Canal and the Kerch Strait. The sweeping shutdown, confirmed by maritime and grain export sources, came after Ukraine’s newly formed Unmanned Systems Forces—led by Commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi—successfully targeted over 90 Russia-linked vessels in less than a week. The massive drone campaign dealt a severe blow to Russia's shadow tanker fleet and immediately choked off one of the country's most vital economic corridors. The operational halt of the Azov-Don canal carries massive economic consequences, particularly for the global agricultural market. Approximately 30% of Russia's total grain exports rely on this route, transiting from the fertile Rostov region through the Sea of Azov to international markets. The sudden disruption at the very beginning of the 2026/2027 agricultural harvesting season immediately triggered a 4% spike in global wheat futures on the Euronext exchange as traders braced for prolonged export delays. Beyond disrupting grain, Ukraine's maritime blockade is designed to isolate occupied Crimea and cripple Russia's military fuel logistics. By systematically burning the smaller river-sea tankers and tugboats that transport fuel from Volga-Don bases to deep-water ports, Kyiv is cutting off the lifeblood of the Russian Black Sea fleet and forces in southern Ukraine. With the Kerch Strait effectively closed to commercial traffic and domestic logistics severed, Russia faces the dual challenge of finding alternative, expensive overland trade routes while managing a cascading energy and economic crisis on the occupied peninsula.

On May 18, 1992, Armenian forces successfully liberated the strategically vital city of Berdzor, establishing a critical link between Armenia and Artsakh. This victory opened the Berdzor Humanitarian Corridor and marked the beginning of the broader liberation of the Kashatagh District. Following the liberation of Shushi on May 13, Armenian forces regrouped near the village of Zarasli, located between Shushi and Berdzor. The area saw a significant deployment of armored units and troops. During this period, contact with Berdzor was lost, and key infrastructure—including the local hospital, school, and government building—was destroyed. On May 17, Armenian forces successfully repelled a major Azerbaijani assault toward Shushi, which involved around 1,000 soldiers, 20 tanks, and various other armored vehicles. The following day, on May 18, the Minister of Defense Vazgen Sargsyan reported that the road to Artsakh was open. In the aftermath, the Berdzor Humanitarian Corridor became a vital route for transporting essential supplies—such as food, fuel, and medicine—from Armenia to Artsakh. However, on December 3, 2022, a group of Azerbaijanis blocked this critical lifeline, known as the Lachin Corridor, under the false pretense of environmental concerns. The road was reopened after more than three hours of negotiations involving Russian peacekeeping forces. Just days later, on December 12, 2022, individuals claiming to be environmental activists obstructed the Shushi-Karin Tak section of the Stepanakert-Goris highway, effectively severing the only route for humanitarian aid to reach Artsakh and its people. On April 23, 2023, Azerbaijani forces escalated tensions further by installing a checkpoint near the Hakari Bridge, tightening control over access to Artsakh. Tragically, on September 19, 2023, following renewed Azerbaijani military aggression, the entire Armenian population of Artsakh was forcibly displaced in an act of ethnic cleansing. But our story does not end here. We will return.

🚨 GİRNE–TASUCU FERRY DISASTER | FULL CHRONOLOGY AND ALL RAW FOOTAGES ⛴️ 🌊 A passenger ferry capsized and sank off Northern Cyprus on Sunday, 30 August 2026. Here is the sequence of events as reported by officials. The privately operated high-speed catamaran Filo Jet (Filo Denizcilik, Turkish-flagged, ~40 m) had been scheduled to sail from Kyrenia (Girne) to Taşucu, Mersin, on Saturday but was delayed by poor weather. It departed Girne harbour at approximately 11:58–12:30 local time carrying 259 passengers and 8 crew (267 people in total). Most passengers were Turkish citizens. About 15 minutes after departure, roughly 4 nautical miles (7.5 km) offshore near Diana Beach, the vessel was struck by successive waves, began taking on water through the bow area, and capsized. Survivors later described water entering rapidly and some jumping into the sea. A distress call was issued. Coast Guard boats, helicopters, the passenger vessel Akgünler 3, civilian craft and later Turkish assets launched an immediate rescue. Passengers in life jackets clung to the overturned hull or floated nearby. By late afternoon the wreck had fully sunk to a depth of 514 metres. Turkish divers were requested to assist the search. Casualty figures were updated throughout the day. Officials ultimately reported 8 dead, approximately 237–242 rescued (some treated in hospital), and 17–19 still missing as night operations continued with helicopters, drones and additional vessels. None of the rescued were described as critically injured in later briefings. The captain and seven crew members were detained for questioning. TRNC authorities declared three days of national mourning and cancelled 30 August Victory Day events. Search-and-rescue operations were stated to continue without interruption. Investigation into weather, vessel condition and operational decisions is ongoing. #Girne #Taşucu #FiloJet #KKTC #KuzeyKıbrıs #FeribotKazası #AramaKurtarma #CyprusFerry
